Default 2 +1s for Jay

1. He has Jose Zoolander Calderon starting our sets on the left side of the floor. It opens up the court and we actually get some ball movement from one side of the court to the other instead of Jose coming down on the right, and staying on the right. Come playoff time, teams won't let Jose get that position on the court so easily. We'll see what happens when it comes to that.

Small change, big difference. +1 for Jay.

2. After the Utah game where the Jazz embarrassed us by running the same flex screen (simultaneous off the ball screens on the weakside block) over and over and scoring off of it constantly, Jay has now implemented that screen into our offense. I can only assume he made it a priority to show the squad how to properly defend that screen the next day, and as a result, we're using it in our offense.

+1 for Jay.
=
+2 for Jay.

Roy had an answer for everything Toronto coach Jay Triano threw at him.
Toronto Raptors head coach Jay Triano looks on during a time out in the fourth quarter of an NBA basketball game against the Portland Trail Blazers Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, at the Rose Garden, in Portland, Ore. The Trail Blazers won 102-89.
Toronto Raptors head coach Jay…
AP - Dec 28, 0:56 EST

“We tried different guys, we tried double-teaming him, and he threw it out,” Triano said. “We ran and we blitzed him. We had two different guys on him any time there was a screen.”
Maybe you just didn't see it..
And let me add something
If Doc Rivers were to come coach this squad, after 2 weeks, you'd be saying the same things wouldn't you?

We tried doubling him twice, once at halfcourt where he threw it to Blake and got it back and scored on another iso, and one time where Bosh doubled and we didnt rotate to Aldridge and he hit from his favorite spot.

I watched the game. Roy toyed with us and played 1 on 1 out there. Jays FOS.

And Rivers is an average coach, Thibodeau and KG are what makes that team great defensively.

That's the thing Thrill, doubling is leaving somebody open. I for one, like most coaches in basketball, and most players, hate the idea of doubling a guy going down the stretch. It's cowardly basketball.

So as a coach, you got to ask yourself, are you gonna go out like a coward, and give the other team's second, third, fourth best players wide open shots.

Or are you going to go out giving it your best and trying to stop people man 2 man, which if you can't do in the first place, you're not going to be winning anything.

You got to make Mike beat you, not give Kerr the wide open 15 footer.

The guy became the head coach in the middle of a storm and had a 4-10 start under a lot of pressure. Give him a break! He's at least trying different things and showing that he is A REAL COACH unlike Smitch dude.

why does everyone think these problems are an isolated incident in the NBA, known only to our beloved raptors. take them shit stained glasses off and lay off a little! a cursory look into other mediocre teams' play around the league would reveal that on any given night, one particular player can get hot and make shots from just about anywhere on the floor.
PBs correct in giving Jay these props. there's been a noticable improvement in our offensive execution and in our defensive strategy.

Jays defensive phylosophy is to allow the outside game to be the main aspect of the opponents game that will beat you. the problem is that we seem to catch teams that go from 26% shooting teams to 50+% shooters as the Warriors did last night. the biggest issue i have right now is not Jay, as he has brought a lot of good things to this team. Our issue is that once JO went down, we had no one other than Bosh who could score low. Andrea had a good start, but was replaced by hump and jake, not sure what happened to bargs, but it seems Jay has lost confidence in him. seeing AP on the floor go 1 - 7 while Jamario was actually playing well worries me and was another reason why they couldn't come back. AP is just not as athletic as Moon and why the hell was Jose tossing in that pass!! the shortest guy on the floor, sigh, it is very difficult to coach a team on which most of the guys seem to not care. Jason K and Bargs look out of the game most nights... not sure you can place all or even most of that on Jay. BC has issues and last night showed how thin we are scoring from outside still.

Plain and simple fact, and only true Sam haters will not admit it, if we didnt fire him, our record would be better, right now. Im not saying he is a great coach, but he consistently beat weak teams we should beat like these last few games for the last 2 years, and the beginning of this year. Maybe JT was given a bad situation, thats BC's fault for not having a plan.

kapono's getting more open looks behind the arc under jay's system than he did under sam's. the guy's just got to knock them down.

Oh, so it's simply a matter of hitting more shats?? Can you see the irony in your statement?
