ah what a great game and what a great outcome.

Honourable mention to Gerrard Pique who had a number of huge clearances and blocks. Considering Henry was not 100% and was rushed back from injury, i thought he did rather well actually. Messi, Iniesta, Xavi, Puyol, Etoo... man all those guys were just awesome. Really Barcelona are in a class all their own right now. Definately deserving champions and certainly the best club team in the world right now.

Ryan Giggs... apparent english player of the year was dreadful out there. Non-existant. Not sure why Ferguson stuck with him as long as he did.

and...

Christiano Ronaldo is a douche. Hey Bel, is it likely that he will end up on Real Madrid next year like many are saying? If so.... poor you and other Real supporters.

The good thing is that it seems like it wont be so sure he is comming after all. This is the order of players that apparently are comming. From more posible to least.

-Xabi Alonso.
-kaka.
-Ribery.
-Villa.
-Silva.
-Cristiano.
-Ibrahimovic.

They have clearly said they are not paying the crazy money the previous president said he was going to pay for Ronaldo so I hope he doesnt accept it and stays in Manchester. If he comes no tragedy, he is still one of the best.

I really hope Liverpool don't sell off Alonso. Rafa has said that he wants him back, but with all these rumours and speculations, i won't be surprised to see him leave. Another team that he is linked to is Juventus.

But i guess Liverpool will have to sell someone to bring someone else in though... still i think Xabi is better than a lot of the players i hear are being targetted by LFC (i.e. Gareth Barry).

One name i am hearing a lot of is Carlos Tevez. If this ends up being true, i would be very happy. He is the one guy i really like on United.

Interesting fact about Barsa, 8 players that played the final + the coach have been with the team since they were kids.

all the "big" European clubs are like this though. They put a bigger emphasis on spending money right now on big name transfers rather than developing young / local youth, talent. It's a quick fix solution and but it's easy. The pressure to win is just too much to risk bringing in young, inexperienced players.

Now imagine if there was a salary cap in place through UEFA, or the domestic leagues or something. That would change everything.

that will never happen b/c you will see teams like Sunderland and Hamilton Academical in the Champions League and they don't have the name recognition or a fan base to bring in big $$$

btw a UAE investor bought Pompey

Yeah - but i see that as bit of a problem for those lesser teams. It doesn't exaclty make for a level playing field in the respective leagues. Look at the scottish league. It's a two horse race every year. Pretty boring IMO. And i mean if a small team happened to become really good and establish themselves as a championship calibre team, then they WOULD have the recognition. simple as that.

It's not like people in Asia like Mancheter United because the beautiful city of Manchester is where they play from. It's because they are a good team with good players.

Anyways, i wasn't suggesting that a salary cap should be in place. Not at all. I was merely pointing out that things would be a lot different if there was.

Lots to talk about here.

I haven't watched enough of Anderson to be honest for Man U. I'm not a fan of Carrick. He's a solid midfielder and knows what to do. The games I have seen Anderson in, he shows potential but again, nothing that I'd hold my hat on. I'd look to add Ribery and compliment him with a guy like Krancjar from Portsmouth. Just an opinion, but again, I don't watch many Man U games.

As for a cap, it'd be great and add the glory of the Champions League back. Right now, it's the same big teams over and over and over again. Teams with big budgets win. Add a cap and scouting talent, signing those one or two big names to compliment a team become more imperative. Many teams have proud histories and soccer fans really don't care about the name, they care about the game more than anything. And if beautiful football will be played then whatever teams are in the final, fans will watch.

That's why I cheered for Barca. It was beautiful football.

Respect to Barcelona. They played a beautiful game and really stifled United's offence. They deserve to be the champions of Europe.

Barcelona won everything lol... and now they're the best team in the world. That's how it works... they will remain the best until they're beaten.

Ferguson is an idiot for trying to fight a massive forest fire with a little flame that is Christiano Ronaldo lol. The only way to beat barcelona is to do what chelsea did. I'm also surprised that Sylvinho played such a good game.. I had no idea who he was when this started.

As for Xavi/Iniesta... I've watched them all year... and I don't think they're the best midfield player in the world. If you put Messi on Chelsea next year... they will win so what does that say? They managed 1 shot on chelsea all game in the second leg.. I don't know how much of a potent offence that is. I will say this though, I underrated Iniesta... he's a tricky player. But he dives alot... and IMO... Lampard/Essien for life . Long live chelsea
