I'm gonna get one of those jerseys, just so that fancy can call me "sire". That would be the bizz-omb.

Arsenal's kits look like that of a Timbits-soccer team in Pickering.

yeah, AIG have confirmed that they'll be cancelling their sponsorship.

That away kit looks god-awful. Where'd you find these Fancy?

There's gonna be a huge zipline from one end of the stadium going down to the field and the United players and gonna swing in on that.

Just came back from the Spain Vs Turkey game. 1 - 0. Awesome. The crowd was insane. 90000 people singing is a thing of beauty.

Pique, a defender. Pretty crappy goal. It wasnt Spains best game but they dominated and showed they can win anyway. They havent lost a game in 2 years!

Watched the England and Argentina games yesterday. Both teams looked good, I think England played their best formation yesterday. Maybe add the pace of Walcott on the wing when he is healthy. Argentina is scary good. Messi had a couple of fantastic runs and scored a goal. With Argentina I think their defence might be shaky but they have world class players in the midfield and up front.

Looking forward to watching the Brazil game today.

Tough weekend on the international front, watched the English dismantle the lazy looking Slovakia rather easily, Rooney had a beast of a game, and the new England jerseys are very minimalistic retro cool, a breath of fresh air compared to the sneak preview of the big 4's for next season.
Watched the Germans destroy Lichtenstein, Ballack played well as did that young kid Jansen. Gomez was horrible as per usual, even the German media take the piss of this guy, what an overated waste of space.
Even kept the channel on to watch the Toronto game, the standard and skill level was suprisingly good, after watching an international match, the officiating left a little to be desired. I have to say i was very impressed with the number and noise created by the travelling Toronto fans, they gave excellent support the whole game.
Finally watched the Holland Scotland game, conservative estimates say between 15-20 thousand members of the Tartan army travelled for the game. Despite losing 3-0 it was a decent performance by Scotland, who had several players pull out in the days leading up to the game. The referee had a huge influence in the final score of the game, by missing an obvious deliberate hand ball and chopping off a Scotland goal for reasons still unknown. With that said the Dutch deservedly won the match, playing far superior soccer for large parts of the game, but its not without reason this particular referee was forced to take a leave of absence from Ligue 1 following a succesion of really bad games.
Had to get that out somewhere, since my wife couldn't handle me talking about the footie at home, so i thought i would rant away in here. Yeah whats the deal with the shitty commentators on goltv, i mean you couldn't get someone with English as their 1st language to call the games, worse yet their not even at the game, in some room somewhere watching it on tv making all their non sensical stupid remarks. At least the Raps won..

i didn't get a chance to watch any of the international matches over the weekend. The only one i kept hearing about was England Slovakia for which i care nothing about. I heard about the Scotland loss... too bad for you guys. I haven't looked at the group standings but i gather you're pretty much out of the qualifying at this point now? Holland has become such a tough team to play against so i gather the Scots were kind of hoping for a miracle anyways.

Poland somehow lost to Northern Freaking Ireland. wow to go Bialo Czerwoni. Bra-fucking-vo.

I saw that Portugal lost again. Wow. could they be one of those "big" teams that doesn't qualify?

France won, and even though they're third - they still have a game in hand.. so i expec tthem to be second in their group soon enough. Allez les Bleus!

I'm getting GolTV in mid April... so looking forward to it.

Actually fancy the qualifying has changed this year, only the 1st place qualifiers go to thw world cup automatically. The 8 best 2nd place teams will then move into a 2 leg tie to decide the 4 final European qualifiers. So Scotland still have a great chance to qualify, absolutley have to win against Iceland on Wednesday, Norway are probably going to be in a battle with Scotland for second place come October.
As for the Poles, i heard Boruc had a nightmare of a game and was heckled all game long, as he plays for Celtic and eh well people in Northern Ireland like Rangers. Boruc's been dropped and sent back to Glasgow, so Poland will have their back up goalie for this Wednesdays game against San Marino.

Portugal is basically out of the worlds. I enjoy it just because of the thought of Cristiano Ronaldo crying about staying at home in 2010.

Ballacks goal.

They are the "12th man" for Toronto FC, the big reason the team found instant fan appeal and why BMO Field is the place to be for a memorable game experience.
But some TFC supporters gave themselves and the club, a black eye in Columbus, Ohio on Saturday with behaviour that led to brawls, police stun guns and even condemnation from Toronto fans who were at the 1-1 game against the hometown Crew.
"My information is that as fans were leaving, several fights broke out in the parking lot and the special duty officers had to request assistance," Rich Weiner, public information officer with the Columbus Police Department, said yesterday.
"Some people were Tasered, some were arrested. I know at least a couple were taken to jail, but if (charges) were of a serious nature, I would know by now. Those involved likely would have posted a bond."
Whether the arrested fans were Canadians or Americans is unknown. The Columbus Dispatch reported at least three arrests, but police would not confirm the number.
The Crew and a TFC official did not immediately return calls from Sun Media last night.
A YouTube clip of a TFC fan getting tackled by several officers after apparently being hit with a stun gun was one of many crowd images posted yesterday and there was heavy web traffic with varying accounts of the crowd antics during the game and the fighting afterwards.
Between 1,500 and 2,000 Toronto fans made the six-hour drive, most of them belonging to designated clubs such as the Red Patch Boys and U-Sector.
"Some, but not all, were drunken boobs who didn't know if they were in Baffin Island or Columbus, Ohio," a fan named Chris told Sun Media, not wanting his last name used.
"They were very disrespectful during the American anthem, they hid under a giant red flag and threw smoke bombs at the security guards on the sidelines ... one of my own friends was even chanting 'you have no health care' at their fans.
"I try and keep an open mind, but I also believe in respect. They are blue-collar people such as ourselves. There were some tough looking Columbus fans with bandanas covering their faces who were headed towards the TFC fans, so when you ask for trouble, you get trouble."
The Dispatch reported part of a steel bleacher railing was pulled out by Toronto fans and thrown on a tent below and some bleacher seats damaged.
Some mace or pepper spray was used to break up the scrappers and wafted through the parking lot causing discomfort to families and young children.
Jack Depoe, president of the Red Patch Boys, said there was an understanding with Crew Stadium security that most Toronto fans would remain inside after the game.
"Until the coast was clear, for lack of a better term," he said. "But I don't think the execution was as good as it could have been." Most fans of both teams used the same exit.
"There are people passionate about soccer on both teams," Depoe said, "The MLS hasn't had this kind of attention before. To me (the police involvement) seemed heavy-handed, but I don't know Columbus. You get the same kind of crowd behaviour at a Buffalo Bills' game.
"I can only speak for Red Patch Boys. There were 700 of us, we had a blast, a few beers, but as far as I know, none were arrested."

I should point out that I actually have not heard of San Marino the country.

and i would be more happy about it had Poland not completely WASTED their prior match on the weekend.

quick question. in this round of group play, do all teams play the other teams in the group twice (home and away?)
