His rotation policy doesn't piss you off? Don't get me wrong, i think he's a great tactician, which i why Liverpool does so well in Europe. But his player rotation tends to bite him in the ass domestically more often than not. IMO, and i might be alone here, domestic league> Champions league.

There are so many good teams though outside of England - you have teams like Juventus, AC Milan, Inter Milan. In Spain, you have Barcelona and Madrid... but aside from that, yeah, the level of football somewhat levels off.

Winning a domestic league shows much more about a team than winning the Champions league. In the national leagues wins the team that has constantly been better. In the champions league (like in every soccer elimination tournament) the luck factor is frecuently as important as the quality of your team.

And Mango theres much more than Real/Barsa in La Liga and Inter/Milan/Juve in Calcio. Last couple of years thanks to billionare owners and the finantial crisis Premierships dominance has being brutal though.

don't get me wrong, they certainly have pissed me off on occasion.... but the man is a great football mind... Also, i'm pretty sure every team's fans tend to question the odd sub here and there.

And i agree about domestic meaning more than Champions league. totally.

I know this is a rumour and there are always PLENTY on the net about footie teams. However; this one is from a pretty reliable source and if this deal happens it would make me a very happy Juve supporter.

Keep in mind Silva did say he wants to stay in spain but who knows with soccer players get a change of heart sometimes

Silva nearly a Juventino
Thursday 19 March, 2009

Juventus are reportedly very close to making Valencia winger David Silva their first summer signing, according to the Italian Press.

The Bianconeri have long been admirers of Silva who was a member of the Spain squad that won Euro 2008 in Austria and Switzerland.

Juventus director of sport Alessio Secco has announced his intention to bring the 23-year-old to Turin on several occasions.

Valencia are in grave financial trouble and are planning to sell their biggest stars this summer to raise some much needed capital.

Los Che are reportedly in debt to the tune of Ģ450m and have had to postpone the construction of a new stadium.

Valencia want any deal done quickly and are believed to be holding out for Ģ16m, which is said to suit Juventus.

The Turin giants have reportedly set Ģ20m aside to replace the 36-year-old Pavel Nedved, who will retire at the end of the season.

Silva is contracted to Valencia until 2013 and receives a salary of Ģ2.5m, a wage Juventus are confident they can match.

Having suffered an ankle injury at the start of the season, Silva has made just 15 appearances for Los Che in 2008-09.

Also, I do totally agree domestic league is alot more important than C.L. There is something to be said when you play around 30 games or so and ahve more points than any other team in your respective league

Im pretty sure he will go. Most people here think so. Valencia needs the money badly. Great move by Juve.

I think City will make a push for him. I know they were hot on his trail last year.

Very insightful!

Anyways, as long as City as mid-table, they're going to spend, spend, spend.

I hope he does end up in Turin. As i said before, Juve have always been my Italian team of choice.

As for Manchester City... they should have never fired Sven Goran Erikson.

Personally I think Juve, Inter and Barce are the top three teams to buy Silva. I must say I love silva he is a world class Midfielder and one of the few trequartista's left in the game. He and Gio could be the new Neddy / Del Piero of the bianconeri. The only problem I see with Silva is that he will find Serie A much more physical than that of La Liga. For a guy of his skill set I think it would be an easy transition and I'm just crossing my fingers for this kid.

Anyone see the champions league draw this morning? Arsenal and Man u got the easiest draw and should meet in the semifinals. Chelsea and liverpool is going to be a tough game, I can see either team going through. Barcelona and Bayern should be a real good game with both teams scoring a lot of goals.

Manchester got lucky. Villareal too. Of the big teams, their best matchup is Arsenal. I predict an upset!

As an Arsenal supporter, I'm frightened of Villareal. If we were healthy, I'd be happy, but we're not and we struggle to score goals. Our poor showing in Rome will give teams like Villa, something to build upon. I hoped for either Bayern Munich or Porto personally.
