Two years in a row that has happened. For all the Liverpool supporter, how the heck does Liverpool do so well in the champions league and do so garbage in the premier league at the same time?

Garbage, huh?

well for one thing Liverpool haven't and don't have the wallets to compete with the likes of Mancs, Chelski, Arsenal. We fans would love it if some rich Kuwaiti's would buy the team, but who knows when that's going to happen.

And Rafa Benitez is really one of the best managers in Europe when it comes to Champs League.

And we're still in good position to do better than Arsenal this year like XW said. Where are Arsenal on the table now BTW? I forget.

Who knows what Saturday morning will bring as well.

Hoops, Jay, Tommy... I'll be at scallywags for the game. I invite you all to come. Hoops: You can sit beside me, but i'll be in your ear all game long.

KG, it's nice to see a fellow Gunners supporter! Also, Liverpool is a damn good team. They may not have won since 1991 but really ManU and Chelsea have simply outspent them. They're always in the top 4 and cosidering that the EPL right now is the top league in the world with La Liga and Serie A in 2nd arguably, I think they're doing fine.

That was an ugly win for Arsenal though. We should've taken care of business and it comes to show that this mix of youth we're developing isn't working.

Diaby is overrated. We should've sold him to Inter Milan in January. He's strong and powerful but he is a terrible midfielder. He should be moving the ball, making the game flow. He holds the ball and doesn't find the open man.

Bendtner is another waste. Another guy that loves the one to one move. It's not Arsenal ball. He's not creative and not a good finisher. Eboue is another one.

Once we had Eduardo and Walcott in the game we finally looked dangerous and coherent. Moving forward, this summer I'd like to see us sell Adebayor. We're deep up front with Vela, Eduardo, v. Persie and Walcott. And we desperately need Cesc back.

Easy there fancy.

We've been destroyed by injuries this season. At least when we were challenging for the title a few years ago (sigh) we didn't choke to Middlesborough

Also, Arsenal doesn't have the deep pockets. If we did, we wouldn't be forced to sell some of our best players. It's a big reason why we focus on our youth and develop them.

I can't find a list of team payrolls for this year, but i know Arsenal has spent more money in recent years than LFC. Specifically during the Henry years.

Typically it's always been Chelsea, ManU (1&2 interchanged), 3. Arsenal, and 4.Liverpool. I could be wrong though... but that's the impression i've always had.

Oh and let's not talk about injuries this year.

EDIT: I'm really scouring the net for a list of team salaries. can't bloody find one anywhere.

I agree about Diaby, he is just holds on the ball and gets himself in trouble, plus he is injury prone. He has some great games, (Roma first leg) just needs to be consistent.

I thought Eduardo should have started instead of Bendtner. I am still shocked at how poor Bendtner's first touch is.

The good thing is we got out of this round, and should get a healthy side bar Fabregas and Rosiscky (who might never comeback at this rate) for the next leg. I like our chances of moving on. Hopefully we can get one of Virreall (sp) or Porto for the next round.

As for Livepool, they are doing ok in the EPL but are not really a threat to win it. I was just reading about how since Benitez took over they have been the best side in Champions League, so I was just wondering how come they cannot match that performance in the EPL?

Most of our money in the Henry years went towards developing Emirates stadium.

Our "big" signings at the time were:

Rocinsky, Hleb and Gallas (I believe in Henry's last year).

We've always developed our own players, guys like v. Persie and Anelka off the top of my head. And the others we purchase for the cheap, again, stealing Henry away from Juventus. Really, our biggest money in the Henry years in just trying to keep him.

Really Liverpool and Arsenal have the same type of spending habits and maybe even budgets. We're never going to match ManU, Chelsea, Tottenham (to an extent) and Man City (disaster).

And Liverpool has been pretty healthy this year compared to us.

I'd say Liverpool have spent more than Arsenal, both recently and in the past (particularly under Houllier).
