absolutely not.

Oooh big deal some cities sold more tickets than they usually do for one game of the year.

Let's also remind ourselves how many games Beckham missed in his first season as well.

It was a patchy experiment to begin with.

IMO, the MLS could do with relocating a couple franchises and NOT expanding like they are now. The league should also set stricter rules as to how teams are run (i.e. stadium set ups and NFL grid lines). That kind of stuff makes the league look bush league.

Beckham was all fine and dandy, but it didn't tackle the real problems.

+1

Also, the academies need to be set up in a proper way with some emphasis placed on them.

MLS needs to beef up its marketing and CONCACAF as whole needs to properly set up a Champion's League. Not the thing they have now, but a proper Champion's League.

Lastly, and this one is the one I've been toying with but they should slowly (and by they I mean MLS) loosen their grip of ownership. I believe they are the true owners of each franchise and control the spending of each team. I think it's time that they loosen this grip and allow teams to have control. E.g. when TFC sold Edu, they only saw a small portion of that amount. The rest went to the league I believe and TFC is left with a paltry amount. This needs to be changed imo to allow true competition to flourish b/c right now you have an artificial league set up.

thats a big problem, MLS gets a piece of everything.
They should think about taking out the salary cap and putting a salary tax because there is no way in hell they're going to compete with any league in the world.
One more thing, MLS plays games on international dates to often, It kills TFC.

yeah i'm not entirely sure how that aspect works. I know that each player is an employee of the league and is "paid by the league" or something like that. It's a pretty messed up system compared to that of other leagues.

It's strange.

I think i'm gonna watch some TFC academy and reserve matches this year. Apparetly they're free.

in an espn report i read the becks only makes 6.2 million a year, not the 50 mill. The rest comes from investements they make and have asked to make the contract a lie for publicity.

The rest of the money was for sponsorships and percentage of ticket/jersey sales.

wooooo!!!

What a second half by Liverpool yesterday. Fucking awesome.

I hope Benitez never ever plays that lienup again; David Ngog should be playing for the reserves; Dirk Kuyt shuts up his critics, Torres is a goal machine; Yossi Benayoun has become my favorite player; as for Ryan Babel.... i won't say anything.

yeah no kidding.
It's always cool to see a team get promoted and then really go balls out in their first year.

Not to mention they have a pretty kick ass strip. One of my favorites in the league.

If they don't strengthen significantly this summer, they're the next Reading/ Ipswich. The darlings of the league in their debut season, but once teams figured them out, they were brought back down to earth the year after that.

I have to say I'm pretty happy about that. After falling behind in the season I seriously had no clue what he was thinking with his formations and such. Made no sense at all.

1. Chelsea is stupid they fire everyone. Grant led them to a second place finish and a champions league final, they probably wish they had him now
2. Chelsea doesn't have the talent compared to Man U, Liverpool or Arsenal. All their players are old or injured and the players didn't fit Scolari's style.
