![]() Well fuck. Not sure if I want avb gone now. I'm generally very very cautious in wanting someone sacked but this is getting to be ridiculous. I didn't expect a win. Nor even did I think we have to at least get the draw. But 6-0 is too rough of a score line. Avb got the team selection and tactics completely wrong

i think you're defence will still be fine but the lack of goals, or much threat at all of goals, is extremely worrying for you. |

![]() The players are definitely to blame for that loss. There was a point where I saw Paulinho throw a small fit on the pitch and I just shook my head. Lamela look disinterested and just mediocre.
AVB, I think shoulders some blame because it looked like he just let him players out there to flounder. I mean, they weren't even competitive. I haven't seen Spurs not compete like that in a long, long, time. Oh and that joke of a free-kick in the first half where you had half the squad talking about who was taking it. It was both sad and funny to watch. Regarding the lack of goals, I've seen it at Arsenal last season when we lost RVP. You can try to replace a player with a bunch of really quality players, but what sets apart the truly special ones is the attention they require and the space they create. Losing Bale hurt not because of goal production but because of the attention he required. Someone needs to grab the reigns (Soldado?) and help alleviate some pressure off their teammates otherwise they'll continue pressing. They're still in the hunt though.... |

![]() well said both of you. I do agree with the blame also being put on the players as some of them were truly shocking (vertonghen, kaboul, walker, paulinho, holtby). some players gave it their all those which is a shame given how the team was (sando, dembele)
that being said AVB is worrying me. players aren't happy and there are rumblings of dressing room altercations. granted given our recent run of games I can see people would be frustrated but people are getting mad about the ade situation (walker defending him apparantly), and the offence being too fixed. I'll support him but I haven't felt this uneasy since redknapp and the whole FA charade |

![]() Who knows what Vertonghen was doing in that game...he was baffling. I have no problem with a RB/LB pushing up the pitch but you have to get back into position. He was just everywhere.
AVB hasn't impressed me. He seems far too rigid in his tactics and gameplan and isn't encouraging the players to just play. Again, that's what it looks like to me. He needs to let the creativity flow if you will but have the correct players on the pitch. From what I saw, having both Sandro and Dembele on the pitch at the same time would, I think, create enough space for players like Paulinho, Lamela and Soldado to be offensive players and maintain the ball in the final third of the pitch. I do think though that someone in the MF needs to help the move towards goal. Eriksen while a very good player, looks very apprehensive out there. |

![]() Sounds like Jermaine Defoe is going to be signing with Toronto FC.
not official, but it's all over the media. This would definitely be a big time signing to help their feeble cause. Now if they could somehow land an attacking mid to compliment him and Laba? would be nice. |

![]() André Villas-Boas on brink of losing Tottenham Hotspur job | Football | The Guardian
wow, way too early imo, but i always find myself saying that. The city result could've been 2-0 or 6-0, it doesn't really matter. I mean, obv, 6-0 is a humiliation and serious questions need to be asked, but spurs' defence has proved to be good this season and they have loads of new players. AVB needs to adapt to them and they need to adapt to spurs and prem. i do rate avb tho, but he's a less good version of mourinho and i have question marks over mourinho. Too rigid, too inflexible, too defensive. |

![]() eh. don't think defoe will do well at all in the MLS. his style isn't suited to the league. whatever, i'm glad to be done with him if he does leave. He's a true yiddo for his accomplishments but too selfish of a player. He plays for himself, not the team.

![]() Night of the Spartan - MARCA.com (English version)
Great game yesterday and he was a large part of that. Players like him often get ignored but their importance cannot be ignored. The game is more than just offense or aesthetics, it's also about doing what you have to, playing within yourself and just being dependable. Even with Carvajal breathing down his neck he's still maintained the starting spot both clubwise and in the international setup. Defensive RBs and LBs are a dying breed. |
