Idk what's worse the price or the fact that it's a really unnecessary signing.

i still find football immensely fun, but for sure, all my romance, love and innocence has completely evaporated from the game in the last 10 years. money has turned the game ugly.

if i wasn't completely obsessed with LFC i could definitely see myself watching less.

Kaka apparently is going to Milan on a Bosman. He'll sign a 2 year deal with Milan. The issue with Kaka was always the wages if not he would've been sold at some point in the past two years. Would've been better to get a fee (1-10 million euros) but the real value is saving his 18 million euro salary (9 in 13/14 and 9 in 14/15). He's set to make a lot less money at Milan (I'm willing to bet somewhere in the region of 2-4 million euros/year).

it's always higher than you think! Toure was supposedly washed up, past it, (although he's having a bit of a revival at lfc possibly,) but when we signed him he still got 3.5mill per year.

4mill for kaka could be right, it won't be as low as 2.

Touche.

If Ozil is sold to Arsenal then it will be akin to what happened with Makelele.

Ozil will be a fantastic signing for arsenal. Perfect player for them. It's not so much creative players they need tho, they need a def mid more but still, u get the chance to sign a player of ozil's quality, u take it.

Also rumours persisting of di maria, benzema and draxler, but real will need convincing to let di maria and benzema go.

got a sneaky feeling suarez may still leave and hearing that lfc may go for damiao.

The bbc live feed is always good to follow on deadline day. Lots of funny comments and fake rumours from members of the public as well as completely up to do date news throughout the day.

kaka has signed, apparently for 4mill per year, "plus bonuses." so we were both pretty much right!

were you talking pounds or euro!? i expect it was euro, i was talking pounds! Anyway, there's not a massive difference. I'll find it very hard to remember to use euro on here, coz i never deal with euro!

anyway, 4mill euro equates to 3.4mill pounds.

Unless I exclusively say pounds I'm using euros.

Ozil leaving and Bale coming in (especially for that fee) is horrid. Ozil has been statistically one of the best if not the best passers (chances created, key passes and assists) in Europe for the past 3 years and has made (along with Angel) CR7 look as good as he has in a Real jersey. I'm kind of disappointed though with him not trying to stay. I mean he doesn't play 1 game -1! and he's deciding to leave. The team was up 3-0 on Sunday with less than 20 minutes to go. I'm kind of glad that Carlo brought on Jese. Mou would've never brought on a youngster like him in that situation. Carlo appears to know how to rotate a squad. Mou used the starters way too much. The only "good" thing about Ozil leaving is that Jese, Morata and Illarra will have one less beast taking away playing time from them.

47 million euros for the best CAM on the planet. Horrible. 1 or 2 things happened. He may have been pushed out AND/OR he wanted guaranteed starters' minutes - like 90 minutes all the time in most competitions. That wouldn't happen at Real. He, along with Benz, Bale, Angel and Isco (not to mention when Luka plays CAM briefly, Jese and Morata) would all be rotated.

Although theoretically that is possible, Real already have Khedira, Illarra, Alonso, Modric and Casemiro playing CDM and deep-lying playmaker. The team would get crushed defensively in that scenario. CR7 + Ozil aren't that good defensively. Benz is a CF. Bale used to defend but having been in a bs "free role" he has had everything catered to him. Isco although better defensively than Ozil is not a deep-lying playmaker. Angel though unlike the other attack-minded players is a beast defensively with a fantastic work-rate and always tracking back. Angel and Arbeloa are kind of the pragmatic and practical side to the flair and suave side of CR7 and Marcelo. Anywho in that scenario there would be only one player in midfield and CF who would be tasked with defensive work in Khedira. Other midfields (Barca, Bayern, Juventus, Chelsea, etc) would destroy Real.

jesus, forgot about modric and casemiro! What makes you say isco can't play deeper? xavi does that role and doesn't really do much defensively, (decent positionally, but not much else.) totally agree about bale, he's wasted his all-round talents, much like gerrard did. (controversial opinion on stevie there, but from the age of 20-25 he was a fucking beast, completely dominating the midfield, box to box, then he started scoring goals and was converted into a no.10)

overall tho, yeah, not much room deeper for isco. But, you've got 5 positions to be catered for, 2 deeper mids and the attacking 3. within that you could have maybe 6 who play regularly and another 2 who play a few games (and they have to be happy with that.) If they kept ozil, the 6 coulda been xabi, illara, isco, ozil, bale, ronaldo. The other 2 keepers being casemiro and maybe the younger guys like jesse. I would sell di maria, khedira, modric.

but ozil's gone now. god, how are real going to keep all these players happy!?

Isco is ridiculously similar to Iniesta - not Xavi. Interesting take on Gerrard.

Exactly. Also - you say there's 5 but you listed 6 players (Xabi, Illarra, Isco, Ozil, Bale, CR7). Anywho you can't sell Luka cuz he's the senior deep-lying playmaker with Jose Rodriguez being only 19 and Alonso again injured, out until December - not to mention he turns 32 this year. You can't sell DiMaria because he's ridiculously good defensively. Is an engine on the right hand side (not to mention he was originally a LW and can legitimately play on both wings). Khedira - in theory he could be sold. Problem is - him, like Angel (and Ozil) has been a starter for the past 3 years and an awesome one at that. Him, like Angel - ridiculously underrated. He's not flashy but plays CDM ridiculously well. But, in theory Illarra could replace him. He had more tackles than any Real player last season.

That is the ultimate question isn't it. After seeing Carlo in the last game it looks like he's really willing to rotate the squad. Also, the issue even extends to the d. Carvajal was voted the best or top 3 RBs in the bundesliga last season but there is still Arbeloa. So a balance has to be made there. Then there is Marcelo at LB but he has Coentrao as a backup (but maybe he leaves today). Then at CB there's Ramos with Pepe and Varane battling it out for 2nd CB. Nacho is 4th choice after those 3. Pepe has been starting with Varane still injured so that has solved things. This isn't even mentioning one of the best GKs of his generation not starting.

yeah i mentioned 6 coz as i said, you can realistically give 6 top-class players plenty of games for 5 spots in the team. There will likely be a few injuries, and you can rotate the positions a bit as well. And then casemiro and other youngsters get the odd game here and there, obv if there were 2 injuries at the same time.

i've only seen isco a few times, but yeah, i can see he's a lot more similar to iniesta than xavi, was just trying to theoretically shoe-horn him deeper to try and keep ozil in that team!

yeah i know khedira is good! i like him. apparently there was interest in him but real were asking for 40mill euro!? that seems crazy even tho i rate him.

Ah ok. I was wondering if you forgot something or if you were proposing a variation of the False 9.

Indeed. Yeah I'd like that too but I've seen a lineup of Becks, Zidane, Figo, Raul and Ronaldo achieve next to nothing.

It's not as crazy as you think with the following players' transfer fees (IN EUROS):

Bale (100 million), Herrera (36 million - it may happen), Illarra (~39 million), Neymar (57 million euros), Carroll (40.6 million), Pastore (39.8 million), Javi Martinez (40 million), Lucas Moura (40-45 million)
Bale (100 million euros)

1 game.

Lost Bale but improved the squad dramatically if you haven't noticed - Paulinho, Capoue, Soldado, Eriksen, Lamela, Chadli.

As great as Ozil is - he's not a CDM - nor is he a defender. Things which Arsenal really need to improve on. It's similar to like how Barca got Neymar - not really needed. A CB is needed first and foremost.

i do agree that we need to shore up our back line and i get that its only 1 game, but anytime a team picks up, imo, the best cam in the world it does nothing but make the team better. also, i don't think you're giving wilshere enough credit, i don't know if you watch arsenal or not but he is very sound defensively and can play the cdm position if need be.

Great player(it must be nice for Arsenal to have a world class player now ) yes - however it wasn't a position of need.

Wilshire is phenomenal but you need an engine or destroyer to play CDM. I mean Xabi and Modric can play CDM but they don't start 2gether. It's not their natural positions. Arsenal had Song but well you know.
