Olympique Lyon vs. Real Sociedad de Fútbol Video Highlights & Interviews (20th Aug 13)

Real Sociedad actually got better (in a way) with the Illarra sale. Got Seferovic, Granero on loan and Ruben Pardo will get a lot more playing time. The only key uber-young players they have to worry about leaving in 1-3 years are Griezzman and Inigo Martinez.

Well it looks like Luka is really not going anywhere now. Alonso just picked up another injury and will be out for 3 months.

Denis Suarez (City) to Barca is almost a done deal.

Apparently Alex (Real Madrid Castilla) to Espanyol is almost a done deal (Real will have a buyback option(s))

Willian is very close to going to Spurs.

Gareth Bale's move to Real nears as Franco Baldini arrives in Madrid | Football | theguardian.com

now, pzabby, what i certainly do not want to do is to rub it in and say "told you so," just want you to learn from this that saying a player won't leave is a very dangerous game in football! I learned this a while ago. Player/agent power rules.

and of course you can comfort yourself with the fact that tottenham are getting an absolutely incredible deal here. After selling bale you'll be about even on spending for the summer and will have massively improved your squad.

the large lady hasn't sang yet. Bale has shown no inclination that he wants to go in quotes and it's all been media speculation so far. however, if bale does go, and we end up getting willian AND Lamela as replacements for him I won't be as phased. however, what if the football world is in for a shock, and the meeting lewis, levy, and AVB had on lewis's yacht was to go all in and we're planning on getting them both AND keep bale? that'd be definite title contenders. given the sales already made, and the tv money/normal club revenue we can actually afford to spend 100 million plus without selling balel. i'd say right now chances of what will happen, given the bit of inside news I have on the club, are like this:

35 percent: bale stays, and we get one of willian/lamela

30 percent: bale goes, and we get both willian/lamela

20 percent: bale stays and we get both willian/lamela

15 percent: bale stays and we don't get either

in all the above situations I see us also signing one other CB as depth, and one big youth potential (potential will not move to spurs immediately)

we've gone through this already, but no club can afford to spend 100mill!! No club makes anywhere near 100mill profit a season, most clubs make a loss! You're saying revenues and turnover plus value of stadium means you can afford to borrow and go into debt to spend that money without going bankrupt, but it's not the same thing!

you're percentage chances are fascinating, no idea how you calculated those! 15 as opposed to 10 or 20!? how about 12.5%!?

and bale has said he wants to go, a number of times. Well, his agent has publicly, and reports say bale has privately.

and i already said bale leaving won't harm you, you're quite defensive on that.

honestly not trying to argue with you dude, we just see things very differently.

edit: and i mean, it's been kind of obvious the bale thing has been likely for weeks now! not saying it was definitely gonna happen, it goes up and down, but the twitter thing (taking bale off,) bale not playing in euro games to avoid being cup-tied, real keeping their no.11 shirt free for him.

we're not borrowing money from banks to fund these. through the new tv fund (40 million or so for us I believe), plus the player sales, plus cash incoming from previous player sales (cough, modders, cough), we have plenty of cash to spend this summer. just take a look at the financial books. it's easy to say there's no way, but there's plenty of revenue for spurs this year, shown in our books.

if we do go over our revenue, it'll be from an injection from lewis, the first time since ENIC took over. which I think may be the case given the yacht meeting

again, take. a. look. at. the. books.

also, if we can afford it, of course we will keep bale and get both willian and lamela. you act as if spurs wanting to go for the title is an impossibility. for fook sakes, look at our history. big proud club. if he's not a bitch about it like modric or berba were (he hasn't shown anything of the sort, nor has he shown any inclination to move. his agent is full of shit, when he can make millions of the world record transfer, don't you think he'll want it to happen? agents have their own agenda, players their own. sometimes they match. other times they don't. the only quote bale has given to the press has been he wants to fight for CL and honours next season (earlier in the summer) with tottenham and that he's proud of what we're doing here (paraphrasing a bit).

are you saying that at the beginning of the summer, tottenham's bank balance was +100mill. If not, then that's all i'm saying. You are talking about what is financially possible, i am talking about what is financially sensible. All the big clubs are in debt, that has been established for a few years now. And it's thanks to constant "injections" that you talk about. You seem to love spurs' current owners, hope that goes well for you, it hasn't for any other team, even mega-rich city and chelsea owners have pissed off their fans.

i have never at any point acted like spurs challenging is an impossibility! you're making it very tribal, like because we support rivaling teams we have to big up our own team and talk-down our rivals. I don't talk about football like that. I do however believe it is unlikely spurs will challenge for the title, they don't have the experience or quality yet.

you're last paragraph was naive imo.

so you're telling me player sales incoming don't count? does the money just go poof? we have over 25 million pounds incoming without bale gone through player sales. Plus whatever profit we have, due to the new tv deal, it's not hard to fathom profit being 50 million. alors, we'd have 75 million to spend, if we wanted to, plus whatever lewis invested as it was rumoured.

no, player sales obviously count.

the new tv deal has allowed clubs to gamble with their finances even more. More money in the game does not necessarily mean better finances. You're talking as if there are no expenses! Wages are completely disgusting and agents fees have skyrocketed. apparently willian's agent wants 5 million! insane. LFC have spent something like 20+ mill on agents in the last couple of years.

you're kind of ignoring a lot of things i'm saying. I have not said tottenham shouldn't be buying players, i have not said they're not a good team, i have merely said that finances are terrible, for all teams right now and the speculating on buying players in order to compete is a big part of the problem.

once you sell bale, your finances are in a decent state, for this season. It's an unusual state of affairs coz real's board have gone nuts. Spurs are in a similar position to LFC. You should be looking for bargains like coutinho, sturridge, chadli, with maybe, maybe one 20-30mill signing per year.

this was the first time we spent over 20 million pounds for a player. EVER.

spurs are one of the few financially prudent top epl teams.

you keep saying our finances are in shambles, and yet you don't bring up anything to back it. look at the financial statements. all healthy.

if you have money to spend it's ok to break the bank in a golden opportunity for the epl title like this year.

we always do make bargain deals...

we have a very strict wage structure, and not absurd like the shitties, and chelscum of the world.

for god's sake, you keep acting like i'm attacking spurs! I never said spurs are a shambles! I'm making a general statement about the top prem teams. Yes, spurs are run better than chelsea, man city and man utd. Yes, their wage bill is decent. Saying spurs are prudent compared to other top prem teams doesn't say much. Last year spurs made a 7mill loss for a total debt of 70mill. Premier League finances: the full club-by-club breakdown and verdict | David Conn | Football | theguardian.com

spurs, arsenal and liverpool are trying to improve their financial situation but also need to compete. So they speculate by buying players. Spurs haven't splashed out huge fees much in the last few years but they have bought A LOT of medium priced players, they are one of the biggest net spenders in the past few years.

This Bale business in this thread is nothing but a complete waste of my time. Big reason why I stopped posting here. The arguments about it is nothing but short of pathetic.

There were some insane moves this summer and all I can still see here is Bale.

Gonzo to Napoli kinda shocked me. Your telling me a city that has a garbage stadium and has problems picking up their garbage can outbid Arsenal for a player? insanity. I know Juve was in the running but at least the club invested in two forwards this summer.

Well Juve begins its domestic season Saturday and just pumped up with all leagues starting

Sampdoria (probable): Da Costa; Gastaldello, Palombo, Costa; De Silvestri, Eramo, Krsticic, Obiang, Castellini; Sansone, Gabbiadini

Juventus (probable): Buffon; Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini; Lichtsteiner, Vidal, Pirlo, Pogba, Asamoah; Tevez, Vucinic

Funny in the past you tell me Marchisio is out for a month I'd be so worried. Now heck with Vidal Pirlo Asamoah and Pogba to support the club its not much of a issue. Team can let Claudio heal and not miss a beat.

Ogbonna/Llorente/Tevez makes for a pretty decent transfer window. Yes would rather have Higuain then Tevez but what the heck can't have everything.

99 million euros for an unnecessary player.

Coentrao will leave. Unfortunately 1 or 2 of Benz, Ozil and DiMaria will leave. I was hoping Kaka could be offloaded to Monaco, City or PSG. I guess he'll be on the roster until next summer when he'll be sold as then he'll be attractive with 1 year left on his contract.

Denis Suarez to Barca from City.

My favourite player ever and it was awesome to see him score again at home.

Chelsea might hijack the Willian - Spurs deal and there is a possibility that Levy will be so angry that he'll stop the Bale deal. DVS sorry about it being talked about so much. I just like to voice my displeasure in the deal.
