That's what was rumoured but I heard that Chelsea may have offered even 60 million euros but who knows. Could've sold higher-just saying. Also, why are you so sure they'd end 7th?

So, once again, a disgruntled player who obviously wants to leave the team but would stay at the team being unhappy. Once again, player power is present - RE: CESC.

modric was the engine of the team that season. without him we wouldn't have been nearly the same. bale wasn't who he is now back then, and vdv wasn't similar enough to modric to replace his role. deadline day=no replacement, hence 7th. ok maybe 6th, but you get my point.

I get your point but with 40 million pounds to 60 million euros I'm pretty sure a replacement could be found.

If we play it right, Bale might be out Matt Letissier, or steven gerrard
bale is nothing like le-tissier! One is all pace and dribbling the other was slow but a genius, both at passing and scoring. Bale will NEVER score the kinds of goals le-tissier did. Bale is all explosion, le-tissier was a thinker. Not saying le-tissier was as good as zidane but style wise, that's the comparison.

can kind of see a comparison with gerrard, not sure bale could run the midfield like gerrard did, he doesn't have the mentality of a central player.

Ronaldo is the closest I can think of as i'm typing. Bale is a winger who's been converted to a striker, a trend I find annoying, a la messi and Ronaldo.

CR7 has his contract renewed and extended until 2018. He'll have the 2nd highest salary in world football. 17 million euros/year.

I assume everybody has seen this, it's quite big news recently.

Do you know what i'm immediately struck by? I'm not that blown away with his skill level! Me and a colleague coach a school team of 11yr olds and in the last 5 years or so we've probably had 4 or 5 kids who had a similar level of skill to this kid.

HOWEVER; as you watch more and more of the video, you notice that the kid always does the right thing. There is zero ego on this kid from what I can see. He does a skill when he needs to and then passes it. His passes are always perfectly weighted ahead for his team-mate to run on to.

unfortunately our kids are not told the right things by their parents, their friends, their coaches on the other teams they play for. The way the sport is going, the focus on superstars and their individual skills and achievement, kids are obsessed with dribbling, skills and being the one who scores. We turn ourselves blue in the face trying to get our kids to move the ball. Sometimes our message sinks in and the team always does better when they do. When we win doing that we drum it into them, and next game it's all forgotten again.

so to conclude, i'm obsessed with team-work and IQ in all sports, and this kid seems to have the IQ, other kids should learn from him.

I meant in terms of building a club legacy, not style of play

you seem very confident that bale will stay this season, i don't share your confidence.

one thing i can say for SURE is that he will not be building a legacy with spurs. And that includes if they make the CL for the next 2 or 3 years running, or even in your wildest dreams, win the league.

as torres said when he left my team, "there is no romance left in football anymore." There may still be the odd one club man here and there, but it will be solid, unspectacular pros like carragher. Messi may just stay at barca for his whole career, we'll see.

transfers are too valuable nowadays, agents and to a lesser extent players, stand to make huge sums of money by moving clubs. Superstars will always make at least one transfer in their careers.

as my dad always says, "money doesn't talk, it swears."

I am 100 percent sure he will stay this season. I am 0.0000000000001 percent sure he will stay with spurs through his prime. and that 0.000000000001 percent chance is dependent on us blowing everyone away and becoming dominant in both the league and CL in the next few years. Stadium will be done in 4-5 years, so I don't see how that would happen.

However, I will wager any amount that he will stay with us this season. levy would not sell this late in the transfer season, 2 weeks before the first game.

Bale is no longer on Spurs' official twitter page and his ad in Times Square has been removed.

right, ok, fair enough. You did say you were thinking he could create a legacy at the club.

this whole Suarez thing makes me sick. I get that loyalty isn't part of sports anymore. the reasonable and rational thinker in me gets that players are only in it for themselves (especially imports who are far removed from the culture of a team and its fans), but nevertheless this Suarez fiasco really makes me mad. Sounds to me like Liverpool is going to play hardball with him which is good.

Well you also have to admit Suarez has issues - re: biting.
