Posting here after a few... months? Good to see you again guys, just wanna express my disappointment for yesterday. A few opinions:
1) We really played well and, except in a few times (Jesus if I was scared in the last 3 OT minutes), we outplayed Spain. Man, they really do have an awful D
2) I had a really low consideration of Bonucci before and not because he's a Gobbo (from Juventus) but simply because he's inadequate to play in a National Team like Italy;
3) VERY stunned by Giaccherini: he did play very well and have been one of our best player in this Conf Cup. He's always on Prandelli's list due to his versatility, but usually he ain't good. Well, I changed idea on him. Well played.
4) Funny seeing how Spain is hated/dreaded by Brazilians. And the same vice versa. Spain-Brazil will be the snobbish floppers fiesta;
5) We had a slow start, but we ended up playing a good soccer against the world champions. We won't win the WC next year, but I'm confident that we can reach a few goals.

Spain's d didn't look that great but both teams had chances and just couldn't finish or Iker or Buffon bailed the team out. Spain has only conceeded 1 goal in 4 games in the Confederations Cup. In the 12 Euro's Espana conceeded only 1 goal in 6 games. In 10 World Cup Espana conceeded 2 goals in 7 games. In 08 Espana conceeded 3 goals in 6 games. So I don't think it is awful. If I were an Italia supporter I'd be worried a lot about the d. 8 goals conceeded in 4 games. Italy needs to have a 3 CBs at all times like they did yesterday.

I'm surprised you didn't mention Candreva - he's been impressive.

Also, would've been much better to see had Cesc, Alonso and Balotelli hadn't been unable to take part. Would've also been better had there not been a u21Euro/u20 world cup and u19Euro this summer as guys like Verratti could be called up.

You see, they're getting worse: if a guy like Giaccherini can get over their D, or you can have Maggio in front of Casillas two times just with a pass there's something wrong. We reached (fortunately) easily Casillas failing at the end, but another team wouldn't have left Spain any chances uh. They need to focus more on defense and less on ball possession.

Thought I mentioned it, my bad! He had a huge effort, damn. Recalling his days back in Udinese he grew very much.

Oh, another mention for De Sciglio: finally we have a worthy and skilled Left Back since Zambrotta. Also he's young (20) and has all the time to improve on defense. Loved his game against Brazil.

We incredibly miss Verratti in Pescara and I'm really happy he is where he is now. Sad he lost U21 EC, but I hope he'll be full healthy next summer. Same for Balotelli: without him, our Striker is Gilardino (even though he didn't play that bad helping the team in transitions), and then the void. Hope someone else will explode next year, because I can't see Giovinco up there.

Well you have to remember that same D did pretty well at the last Euro. The issue I see which many won't is that Xabi Alonso is missed. When you have both Xabi and Busquets as CDMs it's another shield to the d. Xabi also acts as a different type of passer (long pass specialist and another free kick monster) so he is sorely missed. Ppl think Xabi's inclusion in the squad hinders the offense but it might/might not do that but his inclusion definitely aids the d. Another thing which must be noted, another team won't play 3 CBs against Espana which I think is the closest way to beating Espana.

How Gilardino starts blows my mind actually. I don't know why SES barely played especially considering his amazing partnership with Balotelli at Milan. If Giovinco is up there - that's not good.

They did well due to the opponents. Thet're losing something and it's evident as they are Barcellona and Real mirror

That's pretty insulting. 1-1 vs Italy, 1-0 vs Croatia, 4-0 vs Ireland, 2-0 vs France, Portugal on PKs and 4-0 vs Italy. The amount of critique Espana gets is insane. You know they had to actually win the games, score goals, work for it. They didn't show up and the other team just handed them the trophy. Euro 08 - Germany, World '10 Holland, and Euro '12 Italia - hmmmm, I never knew Germany, Holland and Italia were crap opponents

What's wrong with the team having many Barca players? What is it - 6 straight years of Barca reaching UCL Semifinals and 2 UCL trophies in that year. 3 straight years of Real reaching the UCL semifinals is better considering what happened before that. Before you point to Barca's loss vs Bayern - Espana actually has a CB, an RB who can defend, a nice pool of 9s to choose from (Villa, Torres, Llorente, Negredo, Soldado, not to mention young guns like Morata, Tello, Rodrigo if they have amazing seasons). Espana also has a wealth of talent in addition to the talent from Barca players - especially in midfield.

Looks like your boy Dave has come on for Arbeloa.

Last Spain losses 09 Confed Cup- 2-0 to USA, 1-0 to Switzerland in the World Cup and barring some major luck Brazil today.

Overrated - winning every competition but the Confederations Cup - right. Hmm, you didn't see the stop he made on Fred? and the stop on Paulinho's long range shot? Also once again, how do you not play your skipper even for a second since he returned from injury? Do you think Diego Lopez is better than Iker?

Other than this game Spain doesn't need the best goalie in net since they control so much of the possession. look at Barsa with Valdes. do you think he's a top 10 keeper? The've won multiple Champions League titles with him in net.

There is truth to that. However, why doesn't Valdes start for Espana - please do tell? Also, it's the goalie's fault that his team gets so much possession?
