Romeu is being loaned out. don't know about Marin.

Madrid papers were saying that Isco is going to Real. but those papers always full of crap. don't want to see him at City.

why would we sell luka for 40 million pounds, strengthening one of our rivals, on transfer deadline day? we couldn't have brought in a replacement for him within a couple of hours. it'd be a stupid thing to do, and we got 34 million pounds for him the next summer, with time to replace him, without strengthening one of our rivals. luka is a bitch for doing what he did. I lost all respect for him. bale is grounded. he won't do the same. if he does want a transfer he'll ask levy professionally, and levy will see what he can do. if levy can't find a deal worth making, bale will understand and honour his contract. done.

I noted barca is like real in terms of tapping up players too
A team can do a lot of things with 70+ million euros. A lot of positions could be strengthened and maybe Spurs would benefit getting non-BPL players as that market is normal unlike the BPL where teams like Southampton and Norwich can make 10-20 million euro signings. That's great and all but that is a lot of money to deny. Money which could also be used to that new stadium that you go on about all the time. As great as Bale is in "bringing players in" - Spurs are in Europa League, players want to play in UCL.

I heard it was a much bigger difference in money. Rivals - once again - Chelsea for all the "rivalry" are constantly competing in competitions '12 UCL champs, '13 europa champs, etc, sorry to say-can't say the same for Spurs. Luka wanted to go and a team was interested which ended giving the Spurs a lot of money. You don't want to keep a player who doesn't want to stay. Athletic Bilbao did that with Llorente and they lost anywhere from 5-15 million euros. Never good to keep a player who doesn't want to stay.

Barca always end up giving much less. Also - Spurs tried to do the exact same thing by bidding a small offer for Isco. It's pretty hateful that they'd try to do that

Lastly, if or when Bale wants to go - can you really blame him? He wants to legitimately compete in the best competitions with actual chances of winning things.

fans started it. how do you fit 'Azpilicueta' into a song? "Azpilicueta, we'll just call him Dave!"

Higuain is gone. Isco or Cavani to Real. Don't know why Perez likes Benzema, never been a fan.

Dude, everyone calls him Azpi. I think that could fit into a song easily.

Gonzalo will go to Arsenal or Juventus. Probably Cavani to Real Wasted money honestly. I just dont think Cavani will work well with CR7, but if CR7 leaves, then Cavani makes more sense. There was a rumour that CR7 would go and maybe a few others like DiMaria, Coentrao and Callejon and 2 or all of Cavani, Bale and Isco would come in. Benz had a monstrous season in 11/12. Last season-not so much. He's pretty good. His link up play with CR7, Ozil and DiMaria is top notch. However this past season he subpar but good in UCL as always.

selling bale would show a lack of intent. spurs want bigger things, and the way to do that is to build on world class players and surround them with others, not sell them and try to replace them with others. keeping bale shows intent and ambition, something players look for, aside from CL.

it was 40 mil pounds, compared to 34. they're our local rivals, hence a derby every time we play them. also chelsea before abramovic was a small, small time club. people need to remember this. as soon as abramovic leaves, their system of winning won't be sustainable, and they'll either change it and as a result lose quality in signings in and possibly players demanding out, or they'll continue spending stupid amounts of cash and go under like leeds.

we're a proud club, and not going to let a little rat boy have the upper hand. if we weren't going to get a good offer for modrat, we'd keep him, and put him on the bench until the end of his contract, when he would have been 30 and have a tough time finding a suiter since he hadn't played for 4 years. fuck him

no I wouldn't blame him for wanting to change teams; IF he did it in a reasonable way. if he did it like modric, i'll shun him, as with any player. but he won't. he's a good lad, who just started a family, and has his head screwed on right

Did United show a lack of ambition when they sold Ronaldo? they're still winning trophies.

abramovic has been spending money on development and a new training ground since he first arrived. you do realize that Cheslea has so much young talent that they are starring for other clubs on loan. the u21 team also won the u21 champs league. hes only 46, why do you think he's going to leave?

btw Chelsea has just signed a 300m/10 year Adidas and a 18m/year Samsung deal. so Chelsea still have some cash.

united weren't unfairly known as being a selling club at the time.

he'll get tired of his play thing eventually

UCL is the biggest competition and if a team isn't in that competition or doesn't have money then...

You act like Chelsea were nothing. They weren't nothing before they got money. They had won the Club World Cup. It wasn't like Malaga. However, money is the only way to counter the elite. The old/original elite (Real, United, Barca, Bayern, etc) continue to get stronger/stay where they are while others can only compete if they are cash infused - like Chelsea.

Ok, so you'd rather have a disgruntled player, get nothing for him, have his value decrease like crazy and it's not like he has market appeal or a legion of fans or brand like Kaka; instead of getting a high fee for him - not sure if serious.

End of story? When have Real not given a reasonable fee - please tell me when. Real always gives a very good fee. Like I said - Real were willing to give 60+ million euros for Cesc and look at what Barca gave And what do you expect? if an elite team wants a player from another team they'll do their utmost to get that player - it's always been like that. You yourself as a Spurs fan always say how talented Bale is and stuff and a neutral would probably say that said player needs to play in the top competition. Anywho, Spurs need a La Liga player cuz it seems like almost every BPL team needs/has or wants one, it's nice to have players with technical skills who first get critiqued are "too small, etc" but then they see that they actually possess good ball skills and know more than just lobbing or crossing balls in .

Exactly - they reinvested.

That's great that Chelsea has done stuff to improve their youth but come on - there aren't too many famous Chelsea u21 grads (or youth) out there. Other leagues out there need to follow suit with Espana - reserve teams need to play against other pro teams - not u21 sides. It's pretty cool seeing Real Madrid Castilla and Barca B play in the 2nd division.

That's a pretty good deal.

the FA just made the u21 league. England is miles behind in player development. players can't join clubs in their youth unless they live within 90km of the club, unlike Spain were a kid from Malaga can join and train with Barcelona.

Someone mentioned something interesting by saying that the financial crisis in Spain and La Liga (outside Real and Barca) helped the development of young players. Teams are forced to play young players because they're cheaper and sell them later to make a profit. Since the PL is well off and half of the teams have money to spend they just buy the finished products other nations. Thats what is hurting the English national team.

Yeah that's not good for England.

Of course that's hurting them. The BPL is the money league. Am I the only one who thinks things are messed up when Southampton signs G.Ramirez and Norwich signs Van Wolfswinkel? I think what's hurting more is the foreign player rule, I think at the moment only 8 first team players need to be from the UK?

yeah but they don't have to be from the UK, they just have to be registered with the club between the ages of 16-21 for 3 years.
Lukaku will be a homegrown player by next season. He came to the club at 18. will be 21 at the end of this season.

Its an interesting thought, but the success of spanish football started quite before so its difficult to tell.

That's even worse. So-a team could have no Uk or British players-that's pretty bad.

Think they were talking about the past 6 years. It was in reference to Spain winning 2 straight U21 Euro titles and England playing bad.

The rule makes British players more expensive since they can fill a quota for homegrown players.

paulinho to spurs terms agreed. will be signed after the conf cup is done. good signing.

now just sign either an inverted winger or playmaking mid, and a minimum 15/season number 9, and we're good to go. if we go by rumours, a possible but great scenario is:

------------------------------lloris------------------------
walker/naughton-kaboul/dawson-vertonghen/caulker-bae/rose
-------------sandro/holtby----------paulinho/livermore--------------
---------------------dembele/siggy/carrol----------------
-----bale/lennon-----------------------------bernard/townsend
----------------soldado;or villa/adebayor/defoe

I know it's a bit messy, but you get the drift. top top midfield, with a great attacking front 3, and a class act defensive starting lineup, with one of the best keepers in europe.

IF this scenario does pan out, I think we'd be a dark horse for the title, wouldn't you say?
