while disappointing, it's not yet "official." So let's hope a better opponent is selected.

Like, shit! TFC played against Aston Vila in a friendly that probably didn't get much coverage in the U.S. and WEst Ham is all the league could muster up for their all star game?

weak. Should have brought back Villa.

There are quite a few Hammer fans out in Southern Onatario, so I anticipate a sell out regardless.

I think the bigger teams are starting to think of going to places they haven't been in awhile. Toronto has already seen EPL teams so they decided to give a mid tier team an opporutnity.

Plus, I think I remember reading that the big teams, well the big 4, are all abroad this year promoting their teams.

so anyone catch the start of the MLS season?

I watched Toronto's dissapointing game at the Wheat Sheaf.

It was fun, but damn... looks like we're in for a tough season yet again.

Toronto was generally the better and more attacking team, but my general feeling is that we're lacking players who can actually FINISH. You can press all you want, but unless you actually have a consistent marksman who can capitalize on teams' mistakes, then forget it.

None of our guys really have that knack. Samuel, Cunningham, Brennan.... too bad.

Not to mention the midfield is badly lacking too.

uugh.

Oh well, Champions league should FUN!

Here's a question.. why the F did Colin Samuel take that shot? Why didn't Cunningham take it?

beats the hell out of me.

I actually wanted and was expecting Jimmy Brennan to take it.

However, a better question would have been why the F didn't Colin F'ing Samuel follow up with the save and get the rebound.

He was clearly inline to get the first touch. then in a moment of insanity, dude lets up and the defender (who was behind him) beats him to the ball and clears it.

AARRGGHHH.

Yeah, he needs to get shipped out.. and we need a bonafied striker, no matter the age.. i guess you're gonna hear a lot of people cry out to sign Joao Pinto.

On the TFC front.

We landed Laurent Robert and are working on Rohan Ricketts.

Robert was pretty amazing with newcaslte a few seasons back. Deadly on set plays with a cannon for a foot. Robert will be the man. EXACTLY what we need. With TFC being really lacking in the midfield, LR will be most welcome and should do wonders for us. He's had issues with managers in the past, but in his defense, they were headcase managers. The good thing is that he will be reunited with John Carver here and they have a good relationship.

and the best part: He's French. Allez les Rouges!

If we can score Ricketts, i think TFC will go far.

Champions league:

Damn that was a crazy Liverpool arsenal match. Crazy second half for sure. I'm pretty happy with the tie seeing as the next match will be at Anfield and i think the Reds will be in a better place to pull off a win. But I'm sure Arsenal fans will be upset that they didn't see ANY goals in the second with all those glorious chances. so many chances.

The reffing was pretty spot on. No a lot was called for either side and the game had a good flow.

Kudos to Kuyt. The man was great yesterday.

Wow liverpool-ansernal has been the best game I have seen for a looooooooong time. What a beautiful game. I was cheering for both teams. Arsenals second goal was a master piece. Sick game. I have always hated Torres but man he has change since his Atletico days. Kudos to Benitez and Liverpool for using him the right way.

Ah claudius. I feel your pain, my man.

soccer losses always go down pretty hard.

Anyways, Torres is an absolute beast under Rafa. I was pretty excited when he signed, but i don't think anyone was expecting him to work out THIS well. Got to give credit to Hyppia also for that great equalizing goal. Skrtel and Mascherano were great as well.

I just hope the perception of the reffereeing doesn't tarnish this mathup - what with the late penalty. I thought it was the right call at the time, but i am sure that Arsenal fans will be all over the officiating. oh well, that's football/soccer for you.

You know, yeah I'm pissed about that late call. But I don't think we should've put ourselves in that position in the first place. The fact that we couldn't get the job done at home early on speaks VOLUMES about our team right now. However, I am excited about what Walcott could potentially become.

I had the uefa match cast going on while at work, and the last few minutes were an aboslute frenzy. Every single time someone scored, it indicates with a sound clip of a crowd cheering.
Unlucky for Arsenal who looked like they would pull it off with 6 minutes to play.

An now with Totti out again, I'm looking for another United romp today. I even wore my United tie!

sometimes I hate soccer. I was watching getafe(a little town in madrid, where laudrup coaches)-bayern quarter finals of the UEFA, Getafe lost a player in the fifth minute for a red card that it wasnt. The whole game with 10 players and lost one of their best players injured. They had lost another 2 players in the previews game against barcelona. So this little team that has reached the kings cup finals too and is playing three competitions, was completely outplaying bayern. They had tied 1-1 in bayers stadium. So getafe scores and dominates bayern for most part of the game. And the last fucking minute bayern scores and it goes to overtime.
Getafe was completely dead, but somehow they found strength and they score two goals in the first 3 minutes. They completely dominate bayern for the rest of overtime.
When theres 5 minutes left a crap pass from a bayern player goes to getafes goalkeeper and with all the bad luck that it slips and it goes in. The score is 3-2.
So getafe keeps dominating, and in the fucking 120th minute kahn just goes running to the other goal. A bayern player passes the ball, Kahn CLEARLY fouls getafes denfender, and someone scores. 3-3, game ends, bayern to the semifinals.

And thats why I sometimes hate Soccer.
