Hands down Spain deserved that game.

Germany look out of sorts and not that impressive at all.

Anywho, congrats to Spain for finally getting the monkey off the back.

Doc, have a cold one and think Raptors from now on.

Im freaking excited for the upcoming domestic soccer season and Raptors too

Yup, Spain deserved this one.

I know I'm a little late in the post here but I was out after the game.

Great game though, if only there were more goals, that would've made it a little more exciting. Oh and another thing, is Ballack not a hack or what??

i;ve never liked ballack. HE seems like one of those stuck up twats.

What is annoying about ballack is his constant bickering at ref's after supposed fouls against his team. He complains and whines alot which is something you'll notice if you watch any of the league games for Chelsea.

Meh, what soccer player isn't a whiner? Sure Ballack whines more than others, but you still can't discount that he's still one of the best mid-fielders in international soccer. He's just now become the "Buffalo Bills" of the soccer world though. Has played on 5 teams that made it to a majors final only to lose them all.

ha!

Nice end to a generally very frustrating tournament for me.

I attribute the victory mainly to myself and my superstitions. Case in point: I attended a pro-Spain viewing at a friends place and what did i bring as a gift? "Torres" Spanish red wine. "Sangre de Toro" it was called.

When we opened it up, El nino's header hit the post.

When we placed the little "torres" bull that came with the bottle on top of the TV, he scored his goal shortly after.

yup. It was all me.

woot!

Come on, Germany has been one of the most dominant soccer teams in the world in recent history. Add the fact that they actually had a very succesful tournament, you have a lot to be happy about.

You'll be fine in a day or two.

I'm really not as upset or mad as you think I am. Just having fun.

Absolutely we're still one of the most dominant and consistant soccer nations out there. It just would of been nice to win our first major since we last won the Euro Cup in '96. We'll be back in 2 years in South Africa though. Germany has alot of wicked talent coming up through the ranks so I think we'll see a few new faces for the World Cup in 2 years.

Fifa president Sepp Blatter believes that Cristiano Ronaldo should not be held against his will at Manchester United.

Ronaldo has been linked with a record-breaking transfer to Real Madrid following publicised courting from the Primera Division giants.

Real's open pursuit of the two-time PFA Players' Player of the Year saw United report the club to Fifa; however football's world governing body decided against taking any formal action.

On the subject of the Portugal international's future, Blatter expressed his belief that a want-away player should be allowed to leave his club if he so desires, while he also hit out at what he describes as 'modern slavery' in football.

Solution
"The important thing is, we should also protect the player," he told Sky Sports News.

"If the player wants to play somewhere else, then a solution should be found because if he stays in a club where he does not feel comfortable to play then it's not good for the player and for the club.

"I'm always in favour of protecting the player and if the player, he wants to leave, let him leave.

"I think in football there's too much modern slavery in transferring players or buying players here and there, and putting them somewhere.

"We are trying now to intervene in such cases. The reaction to the Bosman law is to make long-lasting contacts in order to keep the players and then if he wants to leave, then there is only one solution, he has to pay his contract."

================================================== =

Manchester United have issued a terse response to Sepp Blatter's claim that Cristiano Ronaldo should be allowed to leave Old Trafford.

The Fifa president has caused widespread controversy with his comments in an exclusive Sky Sports News interview about 'modern slavery' in football.

Portuguese phenomenon Ronaldo has been linked with a move to Real Madrid throughout the summer, with the Spanish giants publicly courting the winger.

United insist their star man is not for sale, but Blatter has waded into the debate by claiming players should be given the freedom to move on when they want to.

A Red Devils club spokesperson responded: "All our players - like at other clubs - enter into their contracts after an open and free negotiation.

"Most of whom do after taking advice from a FIFA-registered agent.

"Many do so on a number of occasions and enjoy long and successful stays at Old Trafford."

Out of control
Uefa have warned that players are becoming ever more powerful as a consequence of the Bosman ruling - and rejected Blatter's suggestions they are slaves to clubs.

Communications director William Gaillard, who also serves as special advisor to UEFA president Michel Platini, gave a different point of view and claimed salaries are 'spiralling out of control'.

"It would be useful to remind people that slaves in all of the slavery systems never earned a wage," Gaillard told Sky Sports News.

The Bosman ruling came into effect in 1995, allowing players free transfers at the end of contracts, and those coming to the conclusion of their deals have become targets for other clubs.

"It seems that both clubs and players are trying to negotiate an exit before the player is free," said Gaillard.

"It is a consequence of the Bosman ruling - there is nothing we can do about that.

"It is obvious that today players have a lot more power than they did 20 years ago, undoubtedly, and agents have a lot more power than they did 20 years ago.

"It is true that salaries are spiralling out of control. Many clubs have pointed that out."

I just dont think blatter has a right to chime in on something like this.....u cant chime in on individual players...this type of thing happens all the time with teams wanting to steal other players and Man U is not innoncent themselves.

I just hate hate blatter...he irritates me to no end with his stupidness..remember he made the comments about how women should wear tighter or shorter shorts to increase ratings....sexist shit head as a president..thats swell.

ok. not to pick on you, but that statement is very ignorant of the current team that Canada have.

We have the best squad in terms of player talent than we have had in decades. As a pretty close follower of that Canadian national team, this is THEE time to qualify for the main event - and i think we can do it. Basically 3 teams out of CONCACAF advance. I see no reason why Canada wouldn't be 3rd behind USA and Mexico. Actually, i'd say we can beat those teams. Not likely, but FAR from impossible. and i know you are very stat and number oriented Major, but please don't go searching for FIFA rankings because they're full of shit.

The only shitty thing about this years qualifying is that Canada is in the CONCACAF group of death (with mexico, Jamaica, and Honduras). Top two teams advance. It'll be a dog fight between us and Honduras (Fuck you Guavara, lol) but DAMMIT, we can do it.

It's an expression. And judging by past performances I have every right to say a statement like that. Who knows though, maybe this will be the year?

I'm not hating on them or anything, that would be stupid. I'm just saying Canada hasn't had the best luck with World Cup qualifying.

judging by past performances is EXACTLY why i am as optimistic about the team as i am. The past two years have been great for the team with various amazing efforts and good results against teams ranked higher.

have faith...like fancy said this is the best our canadian soccer mens team has been in AGES...like....forever ever....ya fo-eva-eva.

Anything is possible in our group. MExico is a powerhouse but is one of those teams that can flip flop.

With the way our team has been playing, the race between us, jamaica and honduras will be very beige...which might be good for us.

Go Canada!

So currently Real Madrid is probably getting Cristiano Ronaldo. But the second options is Van Der Vart for 12 million and Villa for 40.

So wich one would you get.

Cristiano or Villa and Van der Vaart.

IMO is clearly the second option. I dont trust Cristiano.
