i agree with your earlier point about watching out for american owners. i wasn't / am not all rah rah about NESV by any stretch. All along i just want them to show me the money. If they do that then fine. They also made the promise of a new stadium or a revamped anfield. Again i'll assume they plan on doing that. as i see it the stadium is a big part of the team's turnaround. That would be a big step in actually bringing in more income.

I will respectfully disagree with you when it comes to the state of the squad though. Players have been brought in. I understand Mascherano is out, but a holding mid isn't the be all end all of a football team. I'd say outside of that, every thing else about the team is BETTER than last season. At least it was supposed to be. I know all about Shelvey and i'm glad he's in, same with the Scottish defender from Rangers and some youngsters from the Rafa days (Dani Pacheco in particular) make me have some faith in the kids, but that's a small consolation at this point. very small. and the soap opera started last season. oh Rafa had to deal with it alright, but who cares it's all moot now anyways. Point is Roy is not capable of turning this around. For that we will need a manager that knows how to take the bull by the horns and lay down the law.

And fancy, I just took a look at the standings. Man, sorry for Liverpool. I didn't realize they were basically at the bottom. What the hell happened?
Tevez has one big problem, he doesnt look up
even though he complaining that no ones helping him in the central forward part of the field, its not like hes looking to pass

Also, Rooney carried United last season and was one of the best three strikers in the world (Milito and Drogba being the others). They would not have been within a point of Chelsea if it weren't for him. And honestly, along with the fitness/private life concerns, i think the loss of Valencia has hurt him this season. Those two shared some of the best link-up play since the Cole-Yorke partnership in the late 90's.

Losing him would be a huge blow. Especially since the cash will just be used to pay off fucking debt. Honestly Fancy, hate to piss in your cornflakes, but i'd be weary of any American owners right now (Glazers, H+G, Lerner- all trouble, in it for the money) especially if this is just another leveraged buyout.
You wouldn't take Villa over Rooney last season? I personally would take Higuain over him as well as just a pure player.

I do agree that Rooney played a vital role for ManU last season and kept them close for the premiership title, ManU even without him was always going to qualify for a CL spot.

The reason I would've kept Tevez instead of Rooney is simple. Cash. Tevez would've cost less and while there are faults in his game (beyond Messi name me a player who doesn't have them) I do think he provides you with what you need in a striker. A guy with a knack for scoring and who causes the attention of defenders.

And I honestly don't think ManU will be in that much trouble. They still have enough talent on that squad that even without Rooney they're a tough fixture.

You could certainly make a debate out of it, as they had comparable domestic seasons, but Rooney was class continentally (as opposed to the other two) and we probably would have beaten Bayern had he not been injured. And Higuain in particular didn't have to carry the load that Rooney did. Maybe i'm just biased

The thing with Tevez is that he wasn't ours to keep. He would have cost 30 million pounds, which looking back now isn't a bad price at all but after the season he'd just had was completely unjustifiable. Rooney at the time was our versatile forward, England's goldenboy and likely the face of our team and talisman after Ronaldo's inevitable departure. Tevez was the guy who couldn't speak a word of english after 3 years in England, had a terrible first touch and poor positional sense, and had just come off a shit season. Would have been an impossible sell to the fans. And Rooney last year was unstoppable imo- his one huge weakness, heading, seemingly becoming one of his strengths overnight, and he was just clinical in front of goal (playmaking ability was also great, underrated part of his game.) Hard to envision any of this happenning and its tough to see what brought it on.

We'll be fine this season, but this being VDS, Scholes (our best player so far this year) and Giggs' last seasons, as well as Ferdinand's increasing unreliability- that's 5 big holes that suddenly need to be filled. I mean, our depth is crap as is. We're fucked (because you best believe the money from the Rooney sale is going towards interest repayment and not squad strenthening. Fuck the Glazers.)

Anyway, if it wasn't already offical...

YouTube - Fergie confirms Rooney set to leave Utd
The one thing ManU has always been good at but have gone away from in recent past is finding players.

Scholes and Giggs are heart and soul players and Ferdinand (I've never been a fan of) has been overrated and should be sold ASAP. From what I've seen of them this season, Berbatov looks to be in form, but he's another guy that should be sold just to add a little more money.

If I was ManU I'd look to invest in Krancjar from Tottenham (a little bias on my part) as I think he'd be really solid in the central part of the midfield and has a nice offensive game as well. Wouldn't cost an arm and a leg either.

I think Podolski would also be a nice fit on that squad and again, don't think it would cost too much to bring him over (not sure of what his price tag is).

At last! All players in the team hadn't had any power to run anymore and a lot of players got injured too frequently! Team had been getting worse and worse every past day. After every loss he blamed players. He should change his fitness trainer if he wants to be successfull with his next team. Good luck Rijkaard.

ah yes you are a galatasaray fan hontoni. I don't follow turkish league so i have no idea why the team failed, but i still think he is a good manager. Also i am positive he is better than the corpse in the suit we currently have.

I think Pellegrini is more suited for the job. Like i said if Rijkaard doesn't change his fitness trainer, team would start good like Galatasaray but then players will be powerless and their staminas won't be able to complete 90 minutes.

So apparently Rooney isn't happy that ManU will go out and spend.

See, this is why I'm not a fan of the player. They're not gonna be a big boy in the transfer market and therefore I need out. Ugh.

he is asking for 14 million year to any team that wants him, 1 more than Cristiano. So basically he has to be the best paid player in the world.

I like Rooney as a player, but he better play different from the Worl cup or he doesn't deserve not 14 millions but not even 1.

Struggling Liverpool has turned to Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson for a lift.

The Premier League club says Dickinson piloted the team's plane to Napoli for Thursday's Europa League game against the Italian club. Dickinson is a licensed airline pilot.

The rocker told Liverpool's website that "Liverpool are an amazing club" and "I hope they do well."
