Doesn't matter. A precedent has to be set and I think it's been sent. Also, an example needs to be set of someone.

Fifa needs to stand by its guns. Chelsea will be fine.

Manchester United could be the second of the Barclays Premier League's "big four" to be hit by a transfer ban after Le Havre confirmed yesterday that they are pursuing a "very similar" case to that won by Lens against Chelsea. Alain Belsoeur, the managing director of Le Havre, told The Times that the outcome of the Chelsea hearing was "very important and very encouraging" as they seek FIFA sanctions against United for allegedly "stealing" Paul Pogba, the teenage prodigy. Le Havre insist that Pogba was under contract to them when he left for United this summer. They claim to have a pre-contract agreement signed by the player -- and witnessed by his parents -- in November 2006 that committed him to a professional contract from his 16th birthday, in March. Instead, the player allegedly walked away and turned up at Old Trafford.

Spain absolutely dominates in a 5-0 over Belgium in WC qualifying!

damn. some of those results really didn't go my way (with Poland and France both tieing). Poland NEEDS to win their next match...

I still can't believe that Portugal might not even finish second. Really shocking, Also with czechs not winning really screws them as well. Those two countries are usally automatic for qualification.

btw, apparently Julian De Guzman will agree to sign on with Toronto FC. Pretty huge for this team if true.

Jonathan's better though, lol.

Chelsea will win that appeal no worries. It'll be probably be a transfer window or two, just like AS Roma got for Mexes.

Big things are brewing at Toronto FC.

After months of negotiations, Julian De Guzman has finally agreed to become Toronto FC's designated player. As this story is published on Friday evening, I can confirm that Mo Johnston is actively shopping players to other club's within the MLS in a desperate attempt to clear cap room for the Canadian international, who has decided that now is the right time to play with his hometown club.

Until something is done there, it appears Julian will have to wait.

Before fans start going ordering their De Guzman jersey's, though, they need to know that this deal is still not finalized. The big news here is that he has now finally agreed to play in Toronto. The next move is with Johnston. At this time contract negotiations are ongoing but the club are very confident this can happen and want to parade him to the fans in the middle of next week. Time, and money, will determine whether that takes place.

Man, that's awesome to hear!

I wonder who will be the odd man out now if De Guzman comes?

I fear it may be too little too late though. Did anybody see saturday's game against the Rapids? It was horrible! The team looked in disarray and at no point could they get any momentum going. The Rapids aren't even that good!

The FC have got like what six games left...to EVEN HAVE A CHANCE of making the playoffs they would need to win AT LEAST 3 of the six! (more likely 4) I don't see it happening

I watched it .40.

and yes, it was awful. bloody awful. This team frustrates me like no other professional sports team that i have EVER watched. I've never seen an inconsitsency which is based on such extremes. Sometimes this team looks like a very good pro soccer team. they've had games this year where they've looked great. hell even the Seattle game (0-0) was an example of how well and exciting this team can play.

and then you get the steamy, rotting shit that they displayed on Saturday in colorado. Where honest to God, it looks like you're watching a fucking an amateur senior mens beer league.

I'm seriously at a loss with this team right now.

You ask about who the odd man out would be for JDG.... i say who cares! It can be anyone at all.

Here's a list of players who i think are shit and can be EASILY replaced:
Jim Brennan, Nick Garcia, Carl Robinson, Marvell Wynne, Chad Barrett.

and you know what pisses me off the most? The whole Danny Dichio situation. the man has been the heart and soul of this team, is CLEARLY a difference maker on the pitch, and he is being completely ignored when he could be (would be) helping right now.

IMO, it's time for a change in upper management. Sorry Mo, but you have failed.

The thought of a boycott similar to my Toronto Blue Jays one crossed my mind on saturday.

That's what makes it sooo frustrating, the inconsistency. At times throughout the season, they have shown flashes of being able to compete with the top teams in the MLS. Next game they look totally lost on the pitch.

The team needs a coach and management who will give this team an identity and direction. Right now it seems that the team does not now what style of football it wants to play. I know style and strategy can change depending on the opponent, but they seem to go from opposite ends of the spectrum even within a game.

...and WTF is with lobbing the ball all the way upfield to DeRosario EVERY OTHER FUCCIN POSSESSION and getting ABSOLUTELY NOTHING out of it!!!!! That's how I played when I was in elementary!!

Odd man out=Robinson...mark my words.

Agree with you wholeheartedly on the Dichio situation. He has been used sparingly as of late (I guess this is to give the younger guys more PT and chance to develop), and needs to be brought in more often for more minutes (heck I would even start him some games and play him for the first 45). He is too old to be used as a starter for 90 min every game, but he certainly has shown that he can still be a difference maker.

MO HAS GOT TO GO!!!!!!

Toronto FC fans may have to wait a little longer to see Canadian International Julian De Guzman suit up for the club.

While the team has called a press-conference for Wednesday it is reportedly not to announce the signing of the former Deportivo De La Coruna midfielder as the team's first designated player.

Instead striker Danny Dichio is reportedly set to announce his retirement from soccer and will be joining TFC's coaching staff.

While De Guzman and TFC have reportedly agreed to a deal after months of negotiations, Major League Soccer has yet to approve the deal. According to the terms of the reported deal, the 28-year old De Guzman would suit up for TFC for the remainder of the season and the next three years. In addition Toronto will likely have to shed additional cap space to allow De Guzman to join the team ahead of Saturday's rematch against the Colorado Rapids.
Report: DeGuzman close to signing with TFC, Dichio to retire

heard about this on my drive to work and i don't like it. something about it just doesn't sit right.

I don't know why, but i'm not convinced this completely Danny's intention.

We'll see if he stays on with the club in some kind of a role once things are settled - personally i'd think he'd do a better job coaching this squad than the current chump.

TFC owe Danny IMO.

So big WC Qualifying games today.

Obviously I have interest in the Croatia-England game (go Croatia!) but without Modric in the midfield, there's no creativity.

And about Dichio. He's being forced out. It's pretty obvious. But why TFC decided they need DeGuzman as their DP, I'm not quite sure. He's not a striker and he's not a defender. They NEED a top tier striker and they NEED a steady player in the back end. They have neither.

I guess they're hoping O'Brian White will come in and produce.

Yes they do! It is obvious that Dichio is being pushed out. Not exactly the ending you'd expect for Dichio from TFC brass.

The way he's being ushered out is pretty bad, but to be honest, I don't think Danny has much left. I don't think he can go a full 90, especially after the head injuries he's endured recently. But, they should have let him finish off the season if anything.

Oh, and that game versus Colorado...was that ever a disgrace. Ugh. What was Serioux thinking?
