Barsas directives have already said they are not very interested on the project. And I dont think the mayor is a fan either. The beach of Barcelona is not particulary special but I think it could damage the view a lot. Who knows.

JOHANNESBURG (AP)—Organizers are giving South Africans 120,000 free tickets to next year’s World Cup in an effort to make the tournament more accessible to citizens living in poverty.

The tickets will be given to poor fans working in health care, education and other development fields.

FIFA has already set low ticket prices for South African residents, starting at about $17, compared to $80 for international tickets. But with more than a quarter of the work force unemployed, and many of those who do have jobs earning $10 a day or less, even cheap seats are out of reach.

FIFA says its 2010 World Cup Ticket Fund is the first of its kind in the 80 years of the tournament.

Nice innitiative, if I end up going there, I want to be surrounded by a good and local crowd instead of empty seats. Confecup was a disaster-

That's a good move by the organisers.

you are considering making the trip, Bel?

I think if Canada ever qualified, i would highly consider it myself. Probably it would end up being too expensive if i was to look into the numbers, but i would consider it!

LOS ANGELES (AP)—Los Angeles Galaxy forward Landon Donovan says he has tested positive for swine flu.

Galaxy coach and general manager Bruce Arena told the Los Angeles Times in a story posted on its Web site Thursday that Donovan is believed to have contracted the virus from two Galaxy staff members who came down with it during last weekend’s game against the New England Revolution in Foxborough, Mass.

Donovan told the Times he had been feeling ill since joining the U.S. men’s national soccer team in Florida on Sunday.

Arena told the Times that Donovan is not infectious. He says Donovan has a mild strain of the flu and is at the tail end of it.

A good friend of mine is South African and goes almost every year. He wants to rent a house there so a group of like 10 of us can go. Could be pretty sweet. Only thing that would cost us a lot would be the plane ticket, but if we go we expect to get it by Christmas.

you should definately go then.

ESPECIALLY considering that Espana are one of the true favorites in the whole tournament. How often can you get the chance to go to Africa AND watch your nation potentially win the greatest sporting tournament in the world?

That trip would be unforgettable on so many levels.
(i've always wanted to visit the African continent).

Tottenham is my surprise team this year. I really like their squad and they really played well last season after January.

Arsenal will have a tough time this year.

hey jattdog, i went to the sheffield united (my team) versus leicester game yesterday evening. it was a good game and i was very impressed by the leicester style of play, especially that big N'Guessan guy, he did well. it ended 1-1 with oakley scoring a lucky deflected free-kick for you and keith treacy scoring a 25 yard wonder goal for us.

i think leicester will do fine, and hopefully the blades will get promotion!

well well... pretty interesting Wednesday in England.

shocker with Burnley and Manchester. That goal was really nice and impossible to stop and pretty surprised that Carrick didn't convert the penalty.

Liverpool rebounded after being schooled by Tottenham on the weekend. the Reds looked really good - specifically Glen Johnson who had an amazing goal and just played really well. However, before the game, there was word that Rafa was going to walk out on the club. In the end he didn't, but i have an uneasy feeling about things going forward. Rafa's a bit of a hot head, but the American owners really have to go. I'll be damned if they fuck up this season for me.
