So Canada beat El Salvador 1-0 in gold cup action yesterday. Ali Gerba scored another goal, but it wasn't very spectacular.

Canada should have scored a couple more given some of their chances.

Anyways, Canada totally dominated and were deserved victors. Julian De Guzman, Hutchinson, and McKenna were really good.
Especially JDG. He was the man of the match and clearly playing at a level above all others. The guy is good.
His control of the ball is phenomenal as is his sense of where everybody is.
Craig Forrest commented about how he plays a few seconds ahead of everyone and it looked to be the case yesterday.

anyways, good result for Canada.

Toronto FC want Julian DeGuzman badly and is prepared to break the bank (of Montreal) to make it happen. SBI correspondent and Canadian soccer expert Duane Rollins reported on his website, The 24th Minute, that TFC has made a seven-figure offer for the soon-to-be-former Deportivo La Coruna star.

De Guzman is a pretty decent player.

So, can Canada reach the world cup?

no. they were out of the qualification a while back. Big cause was a horrible coach / manager who has since been fired.

regarding Julian DeGuzman. I am a big fan of his. As most here know, i am a big Toronto FC fan and actually i don't want him here. This might sound strange, but i don't think a move to the MLS is what's best for him. He needs to stay in Europe while he's in the peak of his career. Maybe not in La Liga, but definately in a top league. Maybe Bundesliga? I dunno.

Of course i will be happy if TFC land him, but i just think he can do better for himself. Even though i love TFC, i still think i'm pretty realistic in knowing where they and the MLS lie in the grand scheme of things.

at least TFC is trying and are willing to spend $$$
MLS is on its way up and its good for some national team players to play on the same club

hopefully this will kick start the grass instillation

His younger brother Jonathan is a pretty big talent. Plays over here and is a possible future Dutch international (has been selected, but never played yet).

You're right, Canada needs him more than we do. If he does play for Oranje he'll probably be the next Ugur Yildirim.

"According to the Canada 2006 Census, there are 1035965 Canadians of Dutch descent"

It's about time we took one back.

I read somewhere that Huntelaar is going to stutgart. If this is thru i'm really pissed off cuz VFB and ajax are at the same level.

Yes but Huntelaar doesn't want to go to VFB. I think he wants to be with a team that can win the championslegue like chelsea or milan.

Huntelaar is crazy. I hopes he stays with Real and van Marwijk keeps putting him on the bench, especially in the World Cup.

I think it's actually quite funny that they've upgraded pretty much all the positions they had a Dutch player. I always figured they aren't nearly good enough for Real.

I think they are all leaving. The only one I like, and I like him a lot is Sneijder.
