Default World Cup thread

It begins!

South Africa v Mexico
France v Uraguay

I am really pulling for bafana bafana today. Having watched some news yesterday and listening to some south Africans speak, they seem crazy optimistic about their team's chances. People saying they will win it all (yeah right). I guess they were spoiled with the 1995 Rugby team and wolrd cup winners, but in football it will be a different story. Still it would be pretty awesome to have South Africa do well in the tournament. I will be ambitious and predict France and South Africa in the top 2.

Sucks that the games are early in the day. I will get home in time for game 2.

Watching the first game for sure. My friends are there (grrrr). This is the game people are more excited about so only for the celebration, should be good. Mandelas 13 year old great daughter? died in a car accident yesterday comming back from Shakiras concert in Johannesburg that celebrated the world cup. He wont be there. Sucks.

I pull for holland just because I picked them in the pools I entered. Most of the guys that were in these pools were Italian so I figured none of them would pick the Dutch which I was right.

Good thing Italy has a weak side this year I think I have have a chance

Go ORANGE

I am probably going to PVR half the tournament. It just sucks that i am bound to find out the scores of most of the matches i am PVRing. Like south Africa and Mexico today.

In any case that is one that should be worth watching regardless of whether i know the score ahead of time or not.

I was thinking i could try to stay away from this thread in the mornings, but i don't think i am capable of that.

Oold pic: SJ & me - France vs. Germany.

We wore these jerseys around Parkdale (little Portugal to be exact), and somehow survived.

(Holy christ, I looked different then. Jebus)

going for HOLLAND, lets go Oranje!

than its France and Cameroon, ivory coast, Ghana, South Africa, and Algeria.
hoping the africans teams do well and hopefully get past the group stages, they need to represent!
I also like France cause of Zidane (used to be one of my fave players) and the team is pretty much and African Squad in Europe lol check the roster.
