Germany completely domintated - but hopefully you German fans don't get clouded by any illusions of grandeur when you realize that Australia is a weak team. Oh and then take away their best player with what was a complete joke of a red card and you play the majority of the match with an extra man? just saying.

OK. sorry, but i will never be able to root for the Germans. Never. The fact that two of their best players are Polish and the fact that every major tournament within the last 6-8 years usually involves Germany crushing Poland just keeps me hating the German team. I respect the hell out of that program, but i'll never be able to like it.

I'm still in shock over that England/USA result.

Surprising that Argentina/Messi couldn't produce a better performance in their first game.

Ditto for France.

Germany was clinical (as usual). The thing that I admire most about them is that they don't waste opportunities. Klose must be the leader is all-time World Cup goals now.... doesn't he have 16 now or something?

hmm... interesting stat. I don't know what the correct answer is, but i would think Henry has more (assuming we're talking about active players).

The Portuguese Football Federation have moved swiftly to dismiss reports Nani was sent home from the World Cup for reasons other than a shoulder injury. The Manchester United winger told reporters at Lisbon airport that he would be "fine in a week" meaning that he would have only missed Portugal's opener against the Ivory Coast and would have recovered in time to face Brazil and North Korea.

Well back to back is a tough thing. Italy always plays well in World Cups only problem with them this year they don't have a real star (and Cannavaro isn't the Canna of 2006). De Rossi had a calf injury at practise but rumours say he is ready to do. Azzurri lose him its lights out
