Quick question:

What do you guys think was the actual percentage of people celebrating in Toronto yesterday that were actually Spanish? I'm going to say 25%.

Already this morning my (Equadorian) co-worker was bragging to me about how she brought Spain jersies for her son and Spain car flags and how happy they were that Spain won and i was like "why are you admitting this to me?". hahaha.

hehe, thats funny. Man, last night I was a little douchbaggy. Too much beer hehe. Ended up bathing in three different fountains, lost my cellphone, blew up both my knees falling in one of the mountains, broke my flip flop so I basically went home at 7 am barefoot.

Is not his ex, its her current girlfriend (bastard! hehe). The thing is she was getting a lot of heat because tabloids were saying she was distracting him and thats why he didnt play very well in the beggining of the tournament. Also jealous people critizise her a lot because they say she is just there because shes hot, but the truth is that she not great but she is not bad either at what she does. Pretty normal girl, lives in my neighborhood and she is know for not being a diva at all.
Apparently, she was actually having a pretty bad time because of everything.

It was a pretty cool momment.

Enjoy it dude!
it's not everyday your country becomes the champions of the world. I don't think i will ever experience either of my countries winning that prize. It's amazing how difficult it is to win the world cup and how few countries (relatively speaking) have actually pulled it off. I felt it to a lesser extent in 98 with France, but even with my family history i don't consider myself French. I can't imagine what it would feel like to have your country win. It must feel awesome!

...which is i guess why anyone that speaks Spanish is so desperate to piggybag on your success (see my above post. lol).

So I just realized that the opponent might have had some significance for you as well Bel. Pretty freaky. Sounds like an amazing night.

OHANNESBURG — Three thoughts after Spain’s 1-0 extra-time win against the Netherlands gave Spain its first World Cup title:

• At least we avoided another penalty-kick shootout in the final. In a game that will be remembered more for a World Cup-final record 14 yellow cards, Spain managed to find enough quality in extra-time to produce Andrés Iniesta‘s Cup-winning goal. There was little to recommend this game. The Netherlands thugged it up from the start—Nigel de Jong should have gotten a red card from referee Howard Webb for his karate kick of Xabi Alonso, and Mark van Bommel could have drawn red as well for a challenge on Iniesta—and the Spanish players seemed to get thrown off their passing game and started taking some dives as they grew frustrated. But the introduction of Cesc Fabregas brought some verve to the Spanish attack, and it was Fabregas whose incisive pass found Iniesta free for the winning score. Iniesta doesn’t score a ton of goals, but he has a flair for the dramatic, having scored the game-winner in extra-time to beat Chelsea in the 2009 Champions League semifinals.

• Spain was the best team in this World Cup. Say what you will about a Spanish team that won four straight games by 1-0 margins and wasn’t as convincing as the outfit that won the Euro 2008 crown, but this was a deserved World Cup victory. The only other team that played as well as Spain was Germany, and the Spanish thoroughly outclassed the Germans on the field in a 1-0 semifinal victory. Every team that Spain came up against in the knockout rounds played more defensively than they normally do, and the Netherlands was no different. That said, the Dutch had some golden chances in the final. Arjen Robben had two glorious chances on second-half breakaways, but the first was stoned by goalkeeper Iker Casillas and the second was thwarted by Casillas again after Robben stunningly decided not to fall down after contact with Carles Puyol. Who would have thunk it? The notorious diver Robben failed his team by not going down on legitimate contact?

• Let’s hope cynical play takes a back seat in World Cup 2014. Spain will be remembered for trying to play soccer during this tournament, but this Dutch team will be recalled more for the relentless fouling that we saw from Van Bommel and De Jong than for anything constructive. We also saw a feared-but-not-loved Brazil team that ditched The Beautiful Game under its hardman coach Dunga and still couldn’t get past the quarterfinals. Maybe Spain’s success will spur more teams to try to play like the Spanish than like some of the destructive operations we’ve seen in 2010. With the World Cup returning to Brazil in 2014 it’s a great opportunity for Brazil (and other teams) to return to the roots of what makes this sport so appealing to fans all over the world.

What were your thoughts on the final?
Grant Wahl At The World Cup Posts Spain 1, Netherlands 0 a.e.t.: Spain Is World Cup Champion

That pretty much sums up what I think.

Man, Im watching Iniestas goal and Im crying.

hahaha at the England picture. Muppets indeed. and LOL at including Emil Heskey's face (that is him isn't it?).

the De Jong foul was really insane. Dutch players and fans were critical of Webb's officiating yesterday, but shit they should consider themselves lucky they weren't down a man after that assault. Brutal.
