I agree with you 100 % on that..

But usually dramatic moments make the WC's special rather than great football..

Not in group games but at later stage we saw plenty of drama..

This WC started as a big dissappointment for me but got better and better..
Maybe we didn't have nice quality football as in CL but we had great stories and moments to talk about..Although all the teams I supported got eliminated along the way I can say I am satisfied with the whole package..

Can't wait for Brazil 2014..

IMO, for quality football we should watch CL and for drama the WC..

diving incidents dropped by about 40% as soon as Ronaldo left the league

Their was a lot of diving in the game granted. I just don't like Robben the guy dives day in and day out. A feather drops that guy. The Spaniards did dive as well but I wouldn't call it disingenious moreso my true hatred towards Robben and his asswipe winger friend Ribery.

Lets wait and see what Man City does. With the money they throwing around I bet they will acquire a diver.

Football won today? Please if football won then Xavi was trying to referee the game himself?

Ya, they dived and cheated their way throughout the tournament, provoking opponents, committing sneaky fouls and generally playing dirty. Of course everyone would call it a victory for football

Football pundints may call it a "victory for football". Barce and Spainaird fans may call it the same. However; I remember 10 years ago Barce couldn't win shit on a stick I failed to remember what loss to football that was.

Congratulations on the victory to Spain. Football moves on.

It wasn't a epic game. The games weren't beautiful by any means. World cups are never beautiful most countries will lie cheat and steal a cup by any means. It is was it is but to say "football won" because a highly talented spainaird side won is just pretty hypocritical IMHO.

Yeah, lets all cheer for dirty football, lets all cheer for 10 yellow cards, 25 fouls badly called and 2 red cards in the first half. Lets all cheer for a counter attack, 0 creativity, no midfield soccer. Hopefully everyone plays this coward style so football can finally die in peace. And since and english ref (who people admire so much and probably was the worse of the tournament) will allow it, we can keep going with those, no call, dirty antics. The fact that Van Bommel only got 2 yellows in the whole tournament is embarrasing. Im so dissapointed at Holland, even is Spain played shitty most of the time. FOOTBALL WON TODAY, GREATES TEAM IN HISTORY, even playing badly. This football was invented by Cruiff in the 70s. He will be proud of Spain instead of holland.

VAMOS

I dunno, Bel. Yes, the Dutch were dirty and not deserving themselves, but I can't believe you could watch Spain play this tournament and suggest that football won today. Fans deserve to be entertained. Continuous 1-0 scorelines with less than a handful of actual chances should not be considered any sort of victory for football. It is dreary and dull and no spectacle at all. The World Cup deserves better.

Dude they had so many chances to score. I dunno about you, but that domination against Germany was beautiful to watch. They remind me of the Spurs in certain ways. If you want the ball, come and get it? Whats wrong with that? Surely compared to the repulsive football of the Dutch, Spain deserved this win.

Congrats to Spain.... certainly not what I'm used to seeing from a Spanish side but can't argue with the results.

For my money I think that I actually enjoyed watching the Germans the most of any team out there..... which is saying something after they just embarassed the English.

Massive kudos to Muller, Forlan and Shneider who were all incredible for their sides. Each of them are probably in for a massive payday soon.

Moments of the WC for me....

- Green letting in that soft goal and just starting what was a disasterous WC for England.

- Lampard's disallowed goal.

- Gyan missing against Uruguay (after what may go down as the most famous handball in WC history)

- France's implosion.

And one that just happened..... the post-game interview with Spain's captain (and keeper) Iker Casillas where he's interviewed by his ex g/f.... really touching..... he actually breaks down mid way and grabs her and kisses her before running away lol.

Definately not a classic match yesterday, but it was what it was: Two teams that didn't want to open themselves to any mistakes and just played super conservatively and very physically thus we had a pretty bogged down game for the most part. things kind of changed once Robben had that break. Personally i didn't even find that game to have much diving. A couple maybe, but overall i just found it a tough/physical match where most of the fouls were legit. Those cards deserved to be called. well i thought so at least on first watch. Maybe if i saw a replay i would disagree but who really cares.

Anyways, Spain deserved it so congratulations to the furia roja. IMO, they were the best team and had the best talent.

And all i can say to guys like thriller (who don't usually watch soccer, but tuned in yesterday): It was a bad game. period. For those of you who aren't even fans to begin with, of course a bad game won't warm you up to the sport. And anyways, bad games happen in all sports. I'm sure if someone that wasn't a basketball fan watched a shitty basketball game they wouldn't exactly fall in love with the game either. So just move on and give it another chance or don't. Soccer fans don't really care either way.
