i'll follow suit and also state my allegiances as well.

France. Always and forever. tousjours. Vas y, Allez, Gagner, Vive La France.

Otherwise i will pull for Netherlands, Spain and South Africa. In truth i'll be happy to watch (and i can probably find a rooting interest) in most of the matches.

The spanish comentators cant stop talking about homer referees and how none of the ones refereeing the game work in a big league.

offside apparently. the commentators praised the officials for getting it right.

i guess there has to be 2 defenders (including the goalie, who was out on that play) behind the offensive player..... on that play there was only one.

yeah, I think it wasnt, they have been doing a nice job so far. But putting rookie refs in this kind of games. Bad idea.

I thought the offensive player had to be behind the last defender (the guy standing next to the post)

Since Croatia choked in qualifying I'm cheering for Spain, Holland and then Germany.

Anything but the Italians, Portuguese and Brazilians (also the Portuguese).

Mexico stunk, I wish Holland, Spain or Argentina played SA, would have been at least 6-0

that would be true if the keeper was still in the net, which he wasn't.

Mexico won.

Who cares what the final score would've been if the others team played. Playing the opening game of the World Cup against a team that's riding an emotional high isn't the easiest of matches to play.

1-1 finish, but apparently south Africa were denied by the post in the 90th minute. damn.

Still it's a pretty good start for the home side.
