Spain shot 25 times to the other goal, and played "fairly" well. The swiss shot 4. Thats the only reason Im not panicking. Still, liek I said. FUUUCKKKCOASPD

tough night for South African team and their fans.

that Suarez is a piece of work. Embarrassment to the sport IMO.
Fuck i hate seeing that type of crap in soccer. I feel for that keeper Khune.

Anyways, South Africa fall back down to earth. thud.

So far the game played in this tournement is a huge dissapointment for me..

Greece winning the Euro 2004, Inter winning this year's CL were all the signs of negative football getting results..

As of now only Germany and Chile satisfied the football lovers, IMO..

People might continue to blame Jabulani and Vuvuzela for the poor performance of the teams but the real problem is the mentality..

I hope an offensive minded team wins the cup at the end, for the sake of the game..

^^^ I dunno what your talking about Inter scored a pile of goals last season. They also played 3 forwards in CL on many occasions. Maybe I was watching a different team but they I look they scored 75 goals in league play. Tops in the league

Can any of you guys who are bigger soccer fans answer this for me...

Why does FIFA condone the diving? It would rather simple to remove from the game, yet they don't. Why not?

I don't know how easy it would be. I suppose you could say it's part of the culture and as with a lot of sporting federations / leagues most of the people at the top are VERY weary of any change whatsoever.

The refs do card players for diving more and more which is a good start, but at the same time, it's not that easy to be call it always with confidence when dealing in real time. Things happen so fast, and that's why it can be hard to spot. The human element of officiating is something that i do like though.

Also it should be noted that diving and play acting are more prevalent in some parts of the world and you don't see it to that extent in most leagues/competitions. In England for example the level of 'toughness' for lack of a better term is way higher. Lots of the things you see called in world cup are not even batted at in the premiership. Especially the cards. I find here they give cards out for the most minor things. Like for some 50/50 jostling. or hell even a few unintentional handballs. wtf.

It would be very easy if they simply introduced measures which allowed for supplemental disciplinary decisions. In this day and age of HD, Super-slowmo all-the-time, nothing goes unseen. Review the games and if there are flagrant abuses (such as Ronaldo's obscene performance early in the Portugal game), you give them some form of punishment..... definitely a fine, perhaps a yellow card, perhaps a suspension. I am very much convinced that if such measures were added, you would see a drastic decline in the amount of pansy-ass, bullshit play-acting on the pitch.

I'm not trying to underrate the successes of neither Greece Team nor Inter, however when we look at the match-up of Barca vs. Inter, Barca was the one representing " positive football" ...

I disagree. If your a fan of offensive football maybe (and only). However; inter had the whole package this past season and this is coming from a Juve fan (check the world soccer thread I've been a constant there). To think that a team with the best defense in soccer is "negative football" is absurb. Maicon is the best wingback in the world, Lucio and Materazzi were great at centre back. Milito, Eto'o and Sneijder (Madrid Reject) were awesome. Just cause you can't spend the top bucks like Barce and Real doesn't mean its negative football.

I think your fairwheather personally.

That's a very strong statement..I am a Fenerbahce fan residing in Baltimore, USA..

I went to Sevilla,London (Chelsea game) in 2008, and to Lille this year just to watch and support Fenerbahce..

The fact I don't post much in the Soccer Thread doesn't mean I am not interested in soccer..

I am far from beeing a fairweather..

So I'm curious what does Bayern have that Inter doesn't?

What does Lyon have that inter doesn't?

What does Man U have that inter doesn't?

So what is negative football?

What teams suport negative football?

Oh and congrats on being a Fenerbahce fan and good luck on getting Krasic.

Also, thank you for being a "hard core" football fan and never seeing the light of days on this forum
