Default UFC 98 Evans vs Machida

Great night of fights tonight. The Main Event is going to be great for those who can really appreciate the depth of strategy involved in MMA, and might be considered a snooze fest for others. But, if that be the case, you'll get your fill from the Co-Main Event.

As always, the fights can be seen via

He's not as mythotical as Anderson Silva though.

what a beating, Machida is truely in a class of his own. Scariest stat i heard is, he hasnt been hit with a power shot since he fought BJ Penn like 4 years ago

its kind of weird that everyone knows him considering what kind star quality he has beat in the past

thats why fighting in the UFC really gives you a chance at being a superstar because people who knew machida before his last 4 or 5 fights in UFC knew that he was superstar before he came to the ufc

God DAMN it! I forgot about this one!

Wow... can't believe that Evans got dominated like that. Much respect to Lyoto. A deserving champ. The next match against Rampage should be sick.

After I saw Machida a couple years ago I knew he would be the champ
I just didn't expect him to dominate his opponent that much when he got a title shot

the commentary about him standing normally but with his back and head tilted back all the time was crazy. That stance is so unnatural and could only be learned after so many years of training.

No one can even hit Machida lol. He reminds me of Royce Gracie, where his style makes him unbeatable to anyone in any weightclass lol.

Gracie just relied on BJJ tho, his standup isnt even close to Machida, the karate is insanely sick. To think that no world class fighter has hit him hard in over 8 fights is mind boggling. I love rampage, but he is much slower then rashad, and rashad couldnt get near Machida, i just dont know how Rampage can do it, i think you have to take a crazy risk like shooting in unprotected and try to get Machida on his back, because i dont see Page having more then a 5% chance standing up, and that 5% is a left hook

for those that missed it

Thanks Ugo!

Wow.... I had no idea that Machida was this fast.... he just made Evans look like a rank amateur.

I actually LOVE the fact that he won and I understand why to an extent.... kind of the same reason that Gracie dominated when he came in.... he just fought so differently from everyone else that it was impossible to prepare for him. I do think that Evans should have made a concerted effort to take him to the ground though.... standing with him is suicide because of his standup game.

I'd imagine that Rampage is going to want to close the gap much faster and keep things in the clinch. Should be a good fight.

If Machida beats Rampage I'd LOVE to see an Anderson Silva vs. Lyoto matchup.

unfortunately they say they wont fight each other since they are from the same camp (anderson and machida), alot of brazilians refuse to fight other brazilians or ppl refuse to fight ppl from their own camp.... i say if your the champ, you dont get a choice, put in the best fighters, in no other sport have i seen this "i wont compete against my friend" bs....

I agree. If you're the champ and you're getting paid you need to STFU and fight whoever the UFC wants you to.

Who knows though? There was a point where Tito & Chuck said they wouldn't fight each other and look what happened.

yea that's cuz tito is a dick and chuck got sick of it and wanted to shut his mouth, the only brazilian that will 100% fight anybody, his camp or not, is Shogun, and ppl are underestimating him atm, my prediction is he will prob be lined up with Rashad, beat him, and perhaps get a title shot. It will be a helluva matchup, because imo the only way to get to Machida is leg kicks to start, his stance leaves his front leg pretty defenseless, but you need to be fast and good with kicks to do even get close, rashad looked tentative kicking with machida, Shogun wont.
