Tiger...

...is fucking clutch. :reporter:

Dr. J. Naismith 06-16-2008 10:09 AM

That was pretty clutch considering his first 2 shots on the 18th. Too bad for Rocco though because he's such a classy player and I would liked to see him win yesterday instead of going into playoffs with the best golfer on the planet. :(

Ah well .... GOOOOO ROCCO!!!

Acie 06-16-2008 11:06 AM

Rocco doesn't stand a chance today.

Tiger's going to eat him alive.

I don't know ... one thing that Rocco was over the tournament was consistant for all 4 rounds. Tiger was either amazing or shit. I'll take consistency today. :D

Yeah, but Tiger is clutch. :reporter:

I'm going to try and find an ESPN webstream, so I can watch the first couple of holes at lunch.

After eight holes it's

Tiger:E
Rocco:+1

Acie 06-16-2008 03:07 PM

Tiger 2 up.

He's laying a log on par 3's

He's +3 on them.

Major 06-17-2008 09:41 AM

I feel bad for Rocco, would've been nice for him to nice, and I can't stand Tiger at all.

Acie 06-17-2008 10:47 AM

Why can't you stand Tiger?

The guy is amazing. He was hobbled, had doctors telling him not to play, didn't bring his A game and still found a way to win, despite Rocco playing a very good round.

Other generations got to watch Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Maurice Richard, Walter Hagen, Bobby Jones, the Celtics of the 60's, Muhammad Ali, Pele...be thankful you have an opportunity to watch greatness unfold in your lifetime. :)

It may mean nothing to you guys but as a hardcore hockey fan I found this just disgraceful. He could've said something else like "Well honestly, I really haven't been following it too much" that would've been okay. :frustrated:

Hockey fans - and some Canadian media members - quickly dropped the gloves and came out swinging at Woods. Leading the way was TSN's Mike Milbury, a former NHL player, coach and general manager.

"You know what? I'm gonna change the name now," Milbury said. "It's gonna be Tiger Wuss. Here's a guy that took about three months to get over a simple arthroscopic surgery. You look at (Pittsburgh forward) Ryan Malone. His face exploded with a slapshot last night - he's back out in 10 minutes!

Dr. J. Naismith 06-17-2008 10:55 AM

Tiger is a specimen and a freak of nature. You can't help but be in awe when he takes to a course. Hands down and already is the best golfer that has ever played the game. :clapping:

I do feel bad for Rocco. Such a nice guy and so sincere. Would of been nice to see him win his first major. :(

From the Post.

Why? Because Tiger answered a question honestly? Because he didn't say what his public relations people surely would have liked him to say?

Tiger doesn't like hockey, the same way some hockey fans might not like golf, or some people like classical music and others prefer rock and roll.

In this day and age, when professional athletes are fluent in cliches and most of them basically say nothing, I loved Tiger's hockey comment. He was asked a question and gave an honest answer. It's too bad more athletes don't do the same thing.

It seems like just about every professional athlete can't complete a sentence without a cliche. They have almost invented their own language, which is taught by their PR people.

Major 06-17-2008 11:52 AM

That's an honest answer? Well then this guy might as well get a reality check in the world here. When Canadians are asking questions like "Do you watch hockey?" You don't go giving a disgusting answer like that. And that second part of the article is useless, and its not true, lots of Canadians like golf and also play golf, including myself. That was a stupid thing to say and you know it. All he had to say was "No, i'm not watching" and that's it, you don't carry on your answer and start making fun of the sport and Canada. Thats just disrespectful.

The article is BS anyway, it was by an American, of course they are going to defend Tiger

Acie 06-17-2008 12:15 PM

How is he making fun of Canada? Does Canada own hockey? Is Canada the only country that plays hockey? The best players in the league aren't even Canadian for chrissakes. The two teams he was questioned about aren't even Canadian franchises. He doesn't like hockey, so what. He has a right to voice his opinion and he's right - hockey is and has been the least relevant of all the major league sports for a long time now. Why is a reporter asking such a stupid question anyway?

I didn't know the National Post/Montreal Gazzette was not a Canadian paper.

And afterwards he said this:

Quote:

"Oh yeah, I've gotten a lot of grief over that," he said about his original comment, before adding: "I love the sport. I love watching it, but I don't like watching it on TV. In person, it's absolutely incredible what they're able to do. TV doesn't do justice to that. But then, a lot of sports are the same way.

"It is what it is. I said what I said and I was trying to be funny about it, but people didn't perceive it that way."

Dr. J. Naismith 06-18-2008 04:44 PM

This sucks .... Tiger's done for the remainder of the PGA season. :(
