Another amazing finals match. For Roddick's sake I hope he can convert the mental balance he displayed today into continued success. He did not make the mistake of playing it safe, right to the very end. Actually, he should have maybe taken some pace off of some his returns. That sometimes gets to Federer. But it usually spells disaster for Roddick if he just tries to outlast the other guy.

One of the best Wimbledon matches ever. I really feel bad for Roddick, dude hasn't won shit in what seems like an eternity. And yeah, Federer never looked tired out there.

"Probably"?

I was almost late for work watching this! lol... SOOOOO happy for Federer. Him breaking the record at Wimbledon is just perfect... and with Nadal possibly out for a good stretch 20 slams doesn't seem unreachable over the next 2-3 years.

As much as I hate Roddick I have to feel for the guy.... he's going to have nightmares about the end of that 2nd set tiebreak when he was up 6-2 and blew it. He played the best tennis that I've ever seen him play... and against anyone else it prob would have been enough.

Shit!

I had to go out, so I stopped watching at 9-8 in the 5th.

I might have to buy it on DVD.

While on paper the match looks as close as any match ever, it was not that exciting to watch, and these two are my favorite players. Most of the games were not close, I think both players only had break points in 3 or 4 of their opponents 35+ service games, just a bit strange for an "epic" final.

I agree.

I watched it in a bar on the beach in Spain. Even though I was cheering for Federer, it was electrifying when Nadal won.

Just saw that. At first I heard about trainers working on a knee, and was just glad to see it wasn't Nadal's.

anyone watching the U.S Open?
I just saw Baron Davis at the Fed vs. Greul match.

EDIT:
When asked "How do you think Roger Federer will do from beyond the arc?", he simply said "I think he'll do great; he has the tools to be good in any sport". Then the announcer ganks the Clippers by saying "Well what do you know? It might be good for the ticket sales."

lmao

Baron looked damn good though. Amazing beard and glasses.

The court is really fast. Crazy fast. I wonder how that's going to effect things. Federer actually used it to his advantage last night, but it has hurt him in the past.

No one talking about this today?

Damn.... AMAZING day of tennis.

Oudin upsets her second top flight opponent in a row by ousting Sharapova in 4 sets and then 6'10" Isner dispatches Roddick in a 5 set tiebreaker.

Both matches were phenomenal.

I'm pullling for Oudin. She's such a little sparkplug who hits the ball way harder than it looks like she should be able to.

And you have to feel for Roddick again..... tough luck..... Isner played the best match that I've ever seen from a big man though. I never thought he had a chance when Roddick drove it to 5 sets. Can't wait to see what he can do against Verdasco.
