It's only been 3 guys at the top for YEARS... and the winner of these majors usually plays only 1 of the other 2. Not sure that it's the titanic feat you're making it out to be.

Perhaps Roger lacked a player like Rafa in his early years to really push him but he's been every bit as good as he always has been against everyone else (including Novak).

The final will be very interesting....

Kudos to Azarenka for her win.... although I've never seen a former champ just implode the way that Maria did. That was ugly. She was very gracious in her post-match speech though which was a welcome change from Serena's typical garbage.
The field is far far stronger. C'mon - you know that. There's farmore than just the 3 at the top. Murray is right there with them. And there are a bunch not far behind that would have at least gotten a sniff at the finals before. How many times did Federer's wins go past 3 sets? Yes - part of that attests to his greatness, but he really lacked a decent challenge like what these guys face.

This match was just insane - Rafa up 4-2 with the serve, and up 30-15 when he gifts a point that was simply his. Ouch. And that is all Djokovic needs. He's so ucking tough. You can't get him off balance without being better than perfect, or until he tires a good deal, and then he fights back anyway. Unbelievable match.

Eh. Murray played his best tourney by far this time out... but he hasn't been in the conversation until now. He's had his ass kicked by the top 3 pretty consistently. I'll concede that right now you have 3 (perhaps 4) guys that are all on an unreal level but my point is that Fed. hasn't wilted against ANYONE but Nadal. He beat Novak last year at the French and had him at match point again in the US Open. Rafa is just his achilles heel... much in the same way that Novak is Rafa's now.

That might have been the best match that I've ever seen next to the Fed/Nadal Wimbledon final a few years ago. I was in disbelief when Rafa came back to force a 5th set and even more shocked when Novak gutted it out. That has to be demoralizing for Rafa.... I can't imagine how he'll feel if Novak beats him at the French.

I have to say that I PVR'd the match and deliberately set it for 6.5 hrs.... and it STILL wasn't enough! My recording cut off at 5-5 in the 5th set! Bastid! Had to go to ESPN to see who won. Fak!

For those of you who have SN1.... Fed plays Raonic tonight for the first time ever. Think it starts @ 10PM.

That was a fun match. I've been waiting fo'ever for a Canadian to become one of the world's best and we have a good chance with Raonic. Imagine what it'd do for tennis in this country.

He really needs to work on his mental game at this point. The last couple of times I've seen him, both in big matches against big names, you could see the tightening sphincter making things uncomfortable for him. Fed could have taken the first set tiebreak the second Raonic went up 5-3. He suddenly looked a little overcome by what he might be able to accomplish, and if it hadn't been for Roger giving up a couple more easy points, that could have killed Milos right there. I think that's the next step for him anyway. Stay tough and enjoy your success rather than fearing it and the unchartered territory it opens up.

Raonic looking as good as I've ever seen him. And he takes the first set rather handily.

Nice win by Raonic. I think tha was his most impressive win so far in his career. He could have ended it a lot quicker but made a big error in two overhead slams but at the end of the day a victory for Raonic.

Good on him

Raonic played a pretty nice match against Fed. Outplayed him in every respect, but lost his nerve a litl again. He doe look more composed than previously though. It's coming along.

That blue clay is dreamy to look at. I've got a velour shirt that looks like that shit.
