I'm a nerd, so I actually looked it up.

It's officially been called the Roger's Masters (men's)/Roger's Cup (women's) since 2005.

Here some interesting stuff I wasn't aware of...

Quote:
Starting in 2009, the Rogers Cup will become a "1000-level" series event, replacing the Masters Series title. As a "1000-level" event, the Rogers Cup will attract a mandatory player field and is backed by new rules and sanctions. The women's tournament will also go under major changes, that will improve player turnout, by adding player fines and suspensions just to name a few. Player turnout has been an ongoing problem for both the Rogers Cup and the WTA. In 2011, the Rogers Cup will go under another major transformation, that will make both the men's and women's tournaments run in the same week

Quote:
Years Men's event title /Women's event title
1881 - 1967 Canadian Championships /Canadian Championships
1968 - 1996 Canadian Open /Canadian Open
1997 - 2000 du Maurier Open /du Maurier Open
2001 - 2004 Tennis Masters Canada /Rogers AT&T Cup
2005 - present Rogers Masters /Rogers Cup

I didn't know about the men and womens tournaments running in the same week. That's really sweet! So does that mean that, starting in 2011, it's going to be held in Toronto once every 2 years?

Canada will have the ATP and Sony Ericsson WTA tour tournaments running the same week, virtually combined in Toronto and Montreal
I guess they'll run the same week, but in different cities.

Hey guys, I have a question. I'm planning on joining a tennis club this winter so I can get better, not just sit around during the winter so I play great in the spring and maybe win a medal at regionals this year ...tried of losing -.-

So my question is : know any great clubs to join for the winter? Good courts, good deals?
I'm planning to join the Lamoreaux Tennis Club, don't know if any of you know it, it's close to the warden and finch area and it's close to where i live which is an added bonus but i don't know a lot about other clubs and want to know if there any great ones out there. Also, I don't want to spend too much, it's $95 for juniors at Lamoreaux. which is reasonable but you have to pay extra for lessons (i want to improve on my skills, my serves and backhands are really inconsistent like Bargs ) The most i can pay is probably $120.

So anybody know any good places?

Getting back to "up & comers".... I was really impressed with the spanish kid Verdasco when he played Nadal in the semis. He showed some serious game and played without fear. Hope he's more than a flash in the pan.

Nadal - Roddick game:

http://www.rojadirecta.com/canal/indianwells.1.htm

Federer loses to Murray. Looks like he cant beat Murray either now. If he doesnt recover mentally those two Grands Slams could be difficult to get since both Murray and Nadal are going to be in most of those finals for years to come.
