Sports anchor Nick Charles dead at 64
Nick Charles, CNN's first sports anchor, died on Saturday at the age of 64 after battling bladder cancer for the past two years.
Mr Charles, who started his working life as a taxi driver, began at CNN on the network's first day, June 1, 1980.
He co-anchored with Fred Hickman for nearly 20 years on Sports Tonight. They became one of the longest-lasting anchor duos in television.

Topps put Mr Charles on a bubble gum card and People magazine once dubbed him one of the most handsome men in America.
But he was never afraid to ridicule himself and once described his signature mop of curly black hair as his 'Billy Ray Cyrus mullet.'
In a recent CNN.com article, Mr Charles, who lived in Santa Fe, talked openly about his cancer battle and preparing his family for when he was gone.
Talking about the birthday video diaries he made for his five-year-old daughter Giovanna, he said: 'This is a gift from God where I need to build these memories for her, so that I'm not a blur.
'I feel that when I go, that I'm going to prepare a place for my daughter and my wife.
'I'm going to be in their heart and soul. I tell them that every day.'
His message, he said, is to 'never give up on life.'
'It's an imperfect world, but, boy, it's still beautiful.'
Jesus, it's really amazing what cancer does to someone.
