All is right in the world. Lotta Canadian doubters before we beat the US, glad Canada shutout US and Sweden back to back

Congrats to men's and women's hockey teams. Truthfully, silver would not have been enough. But you wonder if John Tavares knee slammed the door on NHLers going again.
Hate to be an Isles fan. Moulson is gone and Vanek refuses to re-sign.

Yup, and they'll likely slide down the standings without JT. With no first rounder to look forward to

have to agree...didn't see a lot of games but the hockey i did watch was excellent...both men's and women's
the larger ice surface really opened things up...was fun to watch

I heard doug mclean say south korea better put together an nhl sized rink for the next olympics. He's a moron though. Lol

He also said they should get rid of the bottom feeders because it ruins the first couple rounds.

Most people I'm hearing on the radio are saying the hockey wasn't very good until the last two rounds. I didn't watch, just what I've heard in the media.

i think with all the European teams it's essential to have the bigger ice surface...evens things out a bit for the lower end teams
and besides, Canada has just proven it doesn't matter what you throw at them

i completely disagree about getting rid of the bottom feeders...Finland, Austria, Norway and Switzerland have seen significant improvements to their programs over the years...maybe not "elite" class yet, but they are improving
Slovenia, Slovakia and Latvia have a ways to go...but by being forced to play against much stronger competition, they will get better

and it's been the same for Women's hockey as well...the gap has closed significantly over the last 10 years
the Olympics is all about creating a brand and spreading interest for the sport...and you can't do that by chopping the bottom feeders

the big story for me this time around has been the team from Slovenia...pretty incredible when you think this country has a population of somewhere around 2 Mill (i think i'm correct in saying that)
think about that for a second...Toronto has a population of almost 2.8 Mill now (?)
and yet with a population that doesn't even equal some of our cities, they have sent a team to compete internationally
and i should add that they have also qualified for the 2014 World Cup as well (again, correct me if i'm wrong on that )

in my books, that's pretty fucking amazing
and it's one of the main reasons why i watch the Olympics at all....LOVE me a good underdog story

so fuck the Canadian media...they're all self-absorbed anyway...far too busy navel gazing
i watch because i enjoy the "sport"...period

They didn't make world cup 2014. finished third in their group. They did go in 2002 and 2010 which is still remarkable vis a vis Canada.

....rrrriiiight because no Canadian 14 year old is capable of sounding like a idiot on twitter.

I get that those comments are infuriating, but it doesn't exacltly represent anyone (like Americans) other than stupid immature kids on twitter which again i am pretty sure exist in every country.

Ed Olczyck was on the fan this morning and said that 70% of the hockey games in Sochi were bad games. Said if they're trying to grow the sport, the format the way it is won't do it. Also said the larger ice surface is part of the problem.
