Default Roger Clemens on "Moment of Truth"?

'Moment of Truth' show makes pitch to Larry Craig and Roger Clemens

If Howard Schultz, executive producer of Fox's controversial new reality show "The Moment of Truth" had his way, Roger Clemens and Sen. Larry Craig would be the first two contestants.

"We're reaching out to them right now to see if they will do it," Schultz told reporters on a conference call yesterday. "This is something that can vindicate many people."

"The Moment of Truth," hosted by Mark Walberg, pits participants against a polygraph. The contestants must truthfully answer 21 questions about themselves to win the grand prize of $500,000. One lie and they're done.

Oh, and their friends, family, and a national audience of millions will be watching. The show premieres Jan. 23 at 9 p.m.

Potential questions include: Have you ever lied to get a job? Do you find any of your spouse's friends attractive? And do you like your mother-in-law? Almost anything is fair game, though some subjects cross the line.

"One line is we do not ask any questions that pertain to minor children, where a minor can be affected in any way," said Schultz. "For example, if there is a divorced participant on the show, we would never ask the question, 'Have you ever used your child as a pawn to get back at your husband?'

"[And] we're bound by the restrictions of the FCC, so things that are graphically sexual and stuff like that, we can't really get into either."

The obvious question is, what kind of person would subject themselves to such a game? Schultz says that there are a number of factors at work when someone signs up. It's the desire to be on television, the desire to win a lot of money, and also some people just believe they truly are honest.

"And I think some people do the show because they believe they won't get caught," said Schultz.

When asked how he ever thought up such a dubious concept, Schultz said it was the present state of the world that inspired him.

"I was just getting sick and tired about how much lying was going on in the world," he said. "I'm a firm believer in the truth does set us free."

I'd LOVE to see Clemens up there. But you just know if he ever did sign up for it and gets caught he'd blame the machine. I just know it.

LOL ... that would be funny and yet be an all-time low for Clemens. Subjecting himself to a polygraph in front of millions? I guess if he claims he's as innocent as he is, then he wouldn't have a problem in doing so.
