Smile POB released by Fujian SBS

Fujian to release Patrick O’Bryant, Shanxi adds Jamal Sampson

An anonymous source speaking exclusively to NiuBBall.com said that center Patrick O’Bryant, who played four years in the NBA with Golden State, Boston and Toronto, will be released by Fujian SBS imminently and will return to the United States by the end of the week.

The move comes just two days before Fujian’s season opener on Friday against Zhejiang Guangsha.

Originally signed to bring the team some size and athleticism up front, coaches became fed up with O’Byrant’s poor performances in pre-season, as well as with his overall indifference and lack of effort in practice. Several published stories in China have reported that much to the coaching staff’s frustration, the seven footer had become almost completely unwilling to play under the basket against more physical opponents in both intrasquad and pre-season contests, preferring instead to stand out on the perimeter as a catch-and-shoot player.

Said the source, “He just doesn’t really want to be there.”

Fujian will look to bring back forward Chris Porter, who played a few seasons with the team previously, including last season.

In other import news, HoopCHINA reports that Shanxi Zhongyu has officially signed Jamal Sampson to a contract for this season. Sampson has played in China previously for Liaoning and DongGuan.

He's a bonified scrub. He can't play the game of basketball, he has small hands, he can't catch the ball, even though he's mobile he really doesn't know what he's doing, he doesn't have a post move that he can put to memory and use one or two times in a game. He has no game what so ever, plays no defense, doesn't have the heart the passion or anything that comes with it.

People criticize BC for picking Bargnani at #1. At the time, it was a good pick. As of now he's a very respectable player.

But what about the real busts of the 2006 draft:

#3 Adam Morrison
#5 Shelden Williams
#9 Patrick O'Bryant
#10 Mouhamed Sene

Can't believe we traded a 2nd round pick for this guy. LOL Who knows, 2nd round picks become more than decent players sometimes. Anyone know who that pick was? It was Bostons.

We didn't give a 2nd round pick.

The deal was:

To Sacramento: Will Soloman

To Boston: Sacramento's 2nd round pick

To Toronto: POB

The worst thing about this guy is that he has all the physical tools in the world to succeed in the NBA.

Waste. Of. Space.
