Olympic Tennis thread
Shit, I wanted really bad a Nadal/Federer final. Whats wrong with federer? he is playing terrible. Is he just tired?
I hope at least theres a Djokovic/Nadal final, those games are good to. |
He's in a bigtime slump.
Hopefully he gets it together in time for the US Open. |
Think again, its over, his reign at the top is coming to an end, it happens to all the greats in tennis at some point.
|
Not necessarily.
To write him off prematurely after one off season is a tad short-sighted. |
he is only 27, not a chance he is over.
|
I'm starting to think it's an injury that's bothering him. Watching him play out there, it's just not the same Federer that we're used to seeing.
|
He has had mono since the end of 2007 last year ... honestly, you need at least 2 months of rest to recover from that, and he didn't take the time off. He took 2 weeks off after the Aussie open and then went back to playing. He'll be fine once he recovers ... no way is he done.
While I am a huge Nadal fan, I do miss the R-Fed of old ... shock and horror, I actually cheered him on when I went to the Rogers Cup. ;) Go Nadal. |
Roger needs to do what Tiger did this year and just call it quits for the rest of the season.
Tiger will come back in 09 and dominate as he usually does, and if R-Fed does that I'm pretty sure he will make Nadal his bitch again.....on grass. |

WOW, I think all the world wanted that final. Hope Fed comes to his old.

Yeah if all goes according to plan they will meet in the semis.
Go Nadal. |
If you look at alot of tennis stars, nearing or around 30, is when they slip from the top. The top for Federer literally means not losing matches except on clay for the entire year, i really believe those days are done, do you remember Bjork?

Bjork does have some really good songs.
|
Jimmy Connors, Pete Samprass, Ivan Lendl, Andre Agassi all continued to win and play at a high level into their 30's.
Bjork Bork retired at 26 because he was a headcase, not because his body was breaking down. |

In brief, im not saying Federer will be a nobody now, im saying his one man domination of the sport is over. |

What a final set in the Nadal Djokovic game!! felt bad for djocovic in the last shot. So easy to score and he would have been back in the game.

Jimmy Connors won 3 Grand Slams and was runner up at 1 Slam at and after the age of 30. Neither of them had the crazy win streak going like R-Fed did (no one does, really), but they were still winning when they were in their 30s. Federer will come back next year (and this is coming from a lukewarm Federer fan). To write him off is ludicrous. For the man to get to the finals of 2 Grand Slams while he is ill just shows what a truly phenominal player he is. |
