Didn't want all that crap crowding Hamilton lol...

Not to mention the raps deserve as much media attention as possible. They'd put raps games on tsn4 if hamilton came out with a team.

the only way your going to be happy is if they make a Canadian Hockey League
which won't happen b/c there is too much $$$ in the U.S. to leave

Thank god!

Can you imagine the bullshit media frenzy, if this would have went through. I can picture it now.

McKenzie/Duthie/Pang & That stupid Monkey spinning a wheel all on location at the newly renovated Craps colesium which would have needed 120Mil from the Gov. for the renovations.

Hey, yo Maggie.....Spin that wheel bitch!!

No thanks.

His comments on the matter after the fact smacked of smugness and entitlement... which isn't uncommon in most kids in their early 20s these days.

And C... let's not kid ourselves.... Crosby/Ovechkin is just like Gretzky/Lemieux... one guy had a hell of team around him... the other was pretty much a one-man show. Crosby SHOULD win more Cups.
Ummm....I'd like to see any one of you guys, after winning the cup saying, wait, wait, wait. I gotta go to the front of the line and shake hands first. He still went to shake hands. Yes, Lidstrom and a few others left, but he still went to shake hands with the opposing side. I didn't realize time limits were now placed upon celebrations.

Oh, and if you wish to talk about surrounding talent, I'd argue that Washington has far more than Pittsburgh. Ovechkin has studs in Mike Green, Semin and Backstrom. Crosby has Malkin and really a bunch of role players. Jordan Staal can be good but he's too hit and miss compared to the Washington guys. So yeah, in reality, it should be Washington who really wins more cups.

this issue is not done yet. the judge only said that they can't do it the way it was proposed. this will go on for quite some time in other forms. no way balsillie is giving up yet.

*Sighs* That franchise is gonna die in Phoenix.. the only way the NHL moves it is if it's to another US City (I'm guessing Las Vegas..)

I would have said KC in the past, but Vegas is dying for a pro sports team, and with the awards ceremony being held in Vegas anyways, it's just dropping the seed.. I mean, they'd do shitty when it comes to season ticket sales, but the walk up crowd I think would be really good.

i dunno man... you go to vegas for a long weekend party, are you really going to watch a hockey game while you're there? sooooo many other distractions.

you could say the same about LA, NY and Miami

don't forget that people actually live in Vegas

Vegas was hit really hard by falling property values
they need to wait a couple years so prices can stabilize and tourism rises

KC already has an arena and I think they're offering it rent free

If you build an arena close to the strip, then I can see a lot of walk-up sales, especially with Canadians -and there are a ton of Canadians that go down to Vegas. I can't see Bettman supplanting the Coyotes only to put the franchise in a smaller market like Kansas City. You go to the game for a couple of hours, then head to the club. I mean, between 7-9pm, you're not doing anything except for pre-drinking. You can do that at the game.

Remember, the NHL needs all the attention it can get. Putting a team in Kansas City ain't gonna do a thing in terms of grabbing headlines.

Not to mention that Las Vegas has to put a ban on hockey betting if it wants a team. I'm not sure if I see that happening...

I think the first step is to bring an all-star game there, much like the NBA did a few years ago. From what I was told, it was mayhem.

But the first pro-sports team there is going to be hockey. Just call it a hunch.

So let me get this straight.

A team in Vegas would need to lean heavily on Canadians to be viable?

Why not just put the team in..oh I don't know....Canada?!?!

thats not a problem
the majority of the betting is on football, basketball, baseball and horse racing
I don't know the exact number but Im willing to say hockey brings in 5% of the sports betting revenue
