no..... Detroit had some chances and Fleury made some big saves.... but Pittsburgh took the play to them for much of the game.

They actually looked like they wanted it more.

I went in thinking I wanted DET to win, but came away feeling that Pittsburgh was a very deserving winner. Good for them.

HOw should we feel. He was injured and pretty much did nothing to help the Pens win the game.

There were a lot more pittsburgh fans in the Joe than I expected.

And as much as I hate Crosby, I hate Hossa more for selling out. Good win!

Yeah, but without Crosby they don't get to the final.

I don't get why people hate Crosby. I just equate it to simple jealousy.

Also, on the big board:

Crosby: 1

Ovechkin: 0

anyone hear about pronger getting traded to the kings for jack johnson and their 1st round pick (5th)?

imo doesn't make a lot of sense when the kings have Doughty and all of their other high prospects...and it kills the leafs chances of trading Kaberle or Kubina for the Kings 1st round pick

So is Pronger and the Ducks.

But, no trades can go down before the Finals were over, so they were probably keeping it quite.

I don't see why the Kings would do this. They would have a nice 1 2 punch on the bluelie with johnson and doughty. Plus they would have another good prospect (possibly John Tavarse if 4 other teams pass on him) to add to the mix. They'd be set for another good decade.

Jealousy?? What's there to be jealous about? He's a big whiney baby, and is so overhyped it's rediculous. And even though he has a cup and Ovechkin doesn't, Ovechkin is by far the better player. Pittsburgh is just a better team all around. Ovechkin doesn't have a Malkin to play with and Pittsburgh has much better goaltending.

All you have to do is look at his actions after winning the Cup to get a feel for it.

When you win the Cup you celebrate a BIT.... and then you go over and shake the other team's hands... ESPECIALLY if you're a high-profile player like him. His comments on the matter after the fact smacked of smugness and entitlement... which isn't uncommon in most kids in their early 20s these days.

And C... let's not kid ourselves.... Crosby/Ovechkin is just like Gretzky/Lemieux... one guy had a hell of team around him... the other was pretty much a one-man show. Crosby SHOULD win more Cups.

Kings are at a point where they could make a push to get to the playoffs. You can only have so many prospects. You need vets to help the kids along. Johnson and the 5th pick for Pronger would be a good deal for both sides.

And Tavares isn't dropping to 5.

So you don't like the deal because it kills the Leafs' chances for landing the 5th pick? If I'm the GM of the Kings and I'm offered either Pronger or Kaberle/Kubina, it's a no brainer, I choose Pronger hands down.

I think this is a great move for LA. They're way too young of a team as it is, so adding a solid veteran like Pronger will help immensely especially with a young guy like Doughty.

Redden's contract is garbage...no deal
From a Rangers' standpoint, I don't know if I'd do this, sure it would get rid of Redden, but Dubinsky is a top-6 forward and Staal is going to be a workhorse for years to come.

not really a lot of info in this article other then the title lol...still it looks like the Leafs have a huge chance of signing this kid *knocks on wood*

Jonas Gustavsson Passes On Edmonton; Leafs May Be Front-Runners

Gustavsson is a highly-touted prospect who was never drafted. Now 24, he had been pursued by multiple NHL clubs, including the Edmonton Oilers.

I had a look at Gustavsson's career-to-date which can be found here; suffice to say that there are many good reasons for NHL teams to be ardent in their pursuit of the big Swede. At the time I said the Oilers should push for him, even dumping Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers if neccessary. Unfortunately, back in early May a report came out which stated that Gustavsson had narrowed his choice to one of four teams: Dallas, Colorado, San Jose and Toronto.

That report has been confirmed, as Gustavsson's agent (Joe Resnick) stated today that his client would visit those four teams (a move reminiscent of Fabian Brunnstrom's North American tour last summer). Colorado is most obviously in need of a starter, but Toronto would appear to have the inside track, as Resnick stated that their recent hiring of Francois Allaire would work in their favour. Brian Burke has a good track record with European goaltenders, and his last undrafted find (Jonas Hiller) worked out pretty well for him.

For the life of me though, I can't figure out how Dallas - with virtually no cap space and an established starter - got ahead of Edmonton on that list. It makes me wonder how aggressive the Oilers' pursuit was, and it also makes me wonder if they're satisfied with Deslauriers as the team's #2.
