I don't understand what the Canucks are doing.

They went from having Loungo and Schneider to Markstrom and Lack and have to eat a bunch of Lou's contract for the next 4 seasons.

And they just gave both twins a lucrative contract.

Puzzling to say the least.

I seriously don't know what to make of this Leaf team...it's just one boneheaded pass/play after another
I've coached peewee hockey teams that have better hockey IQ than some of these guys
The defence is fucking horrid....there's zero support down low on transition...half the team is going east/west...

Fuck me

Terrible fit for the Blue Jackets, injured this year, Blue Jackets were not going to resign him, basically our GM said we were taking anything we could get for him.

Maybe he fits better in LA system but just never fit in Columbus like he did in NY before that. Good guy though, great in the locker room, and through insiders, he liked Columbus and gave it his all. He wanted it to work, so did I, was excited when we traded for him but in the end just didn't work out.

And Montreal got Vanek without giving up a player from their current roster. A second rounder and a prospect. I realize he's likely just a rental but I'm surprised that there wasn't a better offer available but I'm a habs fan so I'll take it.

mistakes all over the ice...some were cringe worthy...it's truly baffling to watch at some points
but ya, take the 3 and run

Vanek could be huge for Montreal down the stretch and into the playoffs...if Price can get healthy i think they're a serious threat to go deep

He won't hurt. He gives them some size up front that they definitely need and should be a boost to their weak powerplay. I don't think that it pushes them into Stanley Cup contention but if price gets back and plays like he did in the olympics you never know what could happen. Unfortunately, Price's D in Sochi was a little stronger than it is in Mtl.

i gotta say i find montreal a middle of the playoff pack team with all due respect.

Out of the east there's really only Pittsburgh and Boston. Otherwise it's all pretty even and i totally include Toronto in that mix.

Vanek will help the Habs but it's not enough for a deep push imo.

Oh I see, hope it works out for him. I'm more disappointed that the Leafs can never make deals like this tbh

I see. Honestly I doubt the Blue Jackets would have traded him to anyone in the Eastern conference as they fight for a playoff spot also. Get something out of him but make sure it is a Western conference team.

It is a good deal for the LA Kings, nothing to lose. Maybe he fits there better, he can skate and score. needs a team that will work on. Blue Jackets are a physical, control the puck, check, etc type team. Could never use his strengths here.

Gaborik isnt that good.

Leafs had a better offer to Vanek apparently, but the Isles did not want to retain salary. How cheap are they for not retaining salary for 20 games in order to get a better deal? Jeez.

Huge win for the Leafs last night...gives them a little breathing room with Tampa and Philly right on they're tail
The road trip coming up is a tough one...i'd be very happy with 3/5
