I like the signing, the term is tough to swallow though.

totally agree. Not liking this signing that much. 7 years too? you're right it's not like he's a prospect who's going to better.

This is the kind of signing i was hoping to avoid. Makes me wonder if buying out grabovski was even a good idea. i'm starting to think not.

At least the Bozak terms are good.

Grabo had one bad year and got ousted. He was our most productive centre for a few years. I was sour about that because Grabo is a warrior.

I agree with most of this.
Columbus could easily move up to 3rd or 4th.

Same. He was the #1 ranked free agent available by tsn. he's put up 30 goals before and hes tough. A 2nd line of lupul-kadri-clarkson is pretty nasty.

Your ranking of my own team makes me happy, but here's my reasoning for that division....

Detroit -loaded up
Toronto -familiar core bolstered, speed, size, objectively they are a handful
Ottawa - picked up Ryan, return of Spezza, return of Karlsson, goaltending
Montreal - bad signs towards end of year, still small
Boston -Seguin, Horton and Ferrence gone, Chara older, draining playoffs
Buf -underachieved last yr
TB - can still score.....and get scored on
Florida - I need to say soemthing?

Well Boston just got Iggy, that puts them either in first or second in that division.

The shoulder surgery that Shadow talks about is what worries the most for me. He will be out till December for the first year but hopefully that is it. Hopefully the problem is not there afterwards either, that is the big concern for me.

Still, you can't question the talent Horton has. Blue Jackets lack scoring options and wingers. Horton can help there, and the fact that someone wanted to play in a smart market and Columbus, I will take it. After dealing with Jeff Carter a couple years ago, it is good to see someone wanting to play in Columbus for NHL.

And he really like to play well in the playoffs, hopefully CBJ can get there now!

CBJ potentially have a great goalie in Bob, very good defense, now just need to add scoring options. With the trade of Gaborik last year, and adding of Horton, that is a step in the right direction.

Just saw Ryan Hamilton signed to Edmonton. Dallas Eakins connection for sure.

Horton is indeed a special player...he's a really good addition RBF...health remains a big question over 7 years though
hope it works out

when i look at Clarkson, i see Toronto's answer to Milan Lucic...a 6 foot 1, 200 lb power forward that will score mostly inside the 15 foot range...and from what i understand, he brings a lot of "nasty" to the table

i'm really liking our top six...great combination of speed, play makers, net presence and size...only real weakness i see is Kadri's faceoff percentages (hopefully he is working to get stronger in the offseason)
great thing about that top 6 is that they're all interchangeable (which is something RC will take advantage of with his line management)

bottom 6 still needs beefing up imho...but let's wait and see what Nonis will do over the next few weeks

Leafs signed Bernier to a 2 year contract

and btw...has Grabo been signed by anybody yet ?...can't find any info

JVR-Bozak-Kessel
Lupul-Kadri-Clarkson

Pretty good mix of guys in there. This would bring Kulemin down to the 3rd line with Bolland and someone else, which also should be a decent line.

& I dont think Grabo has been signed yet.

yup...

Kulemin Bolland ?????
McLaren McClement Orr

the only right winger (Marlies)that i can see that might fit that 3rd line spot is Carter Ashton...but i just don't think he's ready
i expect Nonis to do some wheeling and dealing during the next few weeks to get that player

oh and the Leafs also signed defenceman TJ Brennan from the Panthers...don't know anything about him tbh

Grabo must be sweating a little right now

the playoffs really cost him his contract, he was our worst centre by far. He was on for 12 of bostons 22 goals and only on for 3 of torontos 18.I don't really blame him tho cuz of this:

Quote:
“[Carlyle] make me [expletive] play on the fourth line and he put me in the playoffs on the fourth line and third line again,” Grabovski told TSN 1050 reporter Jonas Siegel. “Yeah, I don’t score goals. I need to work on more about that. I know that. But if you feel support from your coach [you'll find success]. I don’t feel any support from this [expletive] idiot.”
but he got outplayed by kadri and bozie in the reg season

Lol @ Iggy signing with Boston now. It's a good move for the B's though.

Lucic
Bergeron
Krejci
Erikkson
Iglinla
Marchand

That's a nice set of top 6 forwards

LINDROS MUST SEE - YouTube
he was a beast ...and even more so in Junior....i was lucky enough to watch a lot of his games live when he played with the Generals...his 90/91 season was off the charts...GP-57, G-71, A-78, Pts-149, PIM-189

he'll get into the Hall...but it'll have to be with a weaker class imho

Seems to have matured as a person. Guys I've talked to who knew him before the NHL were not exactly complimentary of him as a person. Mending fences with Clarke and the Flyers might have helped his chances a a bit. Skill and the way he changed the game are undeniable though.
