I don't know if you played it, but football (us) is much more dangerous than rugby. In rugby the tackler often takes it just as hard as the other guy, so takedowns are less violent and no one can use their gear as weapons, intentionally or not.

I mentioned it because you have to be tough as nails (forwards, anyways) and in amazing shape. But I'd argue that, as far as contact sports go, rugby is reasonably safe.

My friend got stepped on playing Rugby. He hurt his arm pretty bad.

I stopped playing football at a young enough age that I don't have first hand experience with its true violence. Once I started to enjoy Volleyball, there just wasn't enough time. I stopped before high school. By the start of junior high, I was playing v-ball, soccer, b-ball, hockey, and football. It was impossible to keep up with the cross over in seasons. Coaches were always complaining about missed practices. I ditched soccer and football first and then eventually hockey.

I played Rubgy for a year because it was through my high school. The season ran April-June. When I was in high school, rugby didn't interfere with b-bal and v-ball. I also played a couple of other wussy sports in other years. No need to mention those.

I know. I hope the Bs don't score. The series is finally getting good. Night and day compared to last game. Norton's post was LOUD.

Norton's post > Malkin's post

Jagr made an unreal pass to Krecji. BOS is bringing it right now.

I thought Pens would win this series. I was dead wrong, Boston is playing their asses off.

I played select and houseleague for several years before making the jump

Pizza, you need to stop, really. With every post you offer, it becomes more and ore evident that you just might be completely clueless.

sorry zen master. you of course know all........

puckheads..

while I don't hate the sport, and enjoy playing it, and cheering for the leafs at a bar when they're in the playoffs (once every decade or so hahaha), it doesn't match up with football whatsoever. football is the greatest sport ever created, simply because of it's global accesibility. you don't need a maintained ice rink, or skates, or a stick, or (expensive) padding to play it. all you need is something round that won't break your toe when you kick it and you're set.

THAT'S why it's the greatest sport, because every single human being in the world can play it once they are able to run (excluding toddlers and infants and extreme seniors.)

You could make the same case for boxing, running or cock fighting. That does not make them the best in the world, unless that phrase is narrowly defined so as to become practically meaningless.

That's fine, you can have your opinion and preference.

But nothing in your post is relevant to a discussion about which sport is most physically demanding/difficult.

you could just as easily be making a case for ultimate frisbee. or checkers. or rock-paper-scissors.

soccer is certainly very popular.... doesn't make it the greatest. reference Bieber, Justin for a comparison.

so first it was which sport was tougher, but now it's that soccer oh wait sorry futbol is greater... pzabby please. Stop it with your silly ranking system because it just doesn't matter. First off different sports require different skillsets. One can be a great athlete in one sport and completely fail at another sport. You don't have to be overly physically strong to be a good soccer player, but you do need to have good endurance. Probably not as much as a marathon runner. and the point to all this is.... just enjoy sports for what they are and stop comparing which one is 'better' because there is no real winner.
