it looks like the bruin player was lining kessel up and kessel was shying away from the hit. the wrong guy fell looking at that.

If you're talking about the gif fancy...it was an excellent back check by Kessel ( might have saved a goal)..he then turned and came across his blueline and made another fine defensive play..then continued across and blocked a slap shot from Chara ( although i think he was just trying to jump out of the way )

Leafs defensive zone coverage was much better on Sat...didn't over press along the boards...stayed solid in the middle
But they're clearing passes were fucking awful all night ...they need to go high off the glass if in doubt

Another guy who i felt had a solid game was Hamilton
But hey, Reimer stole this one for them...and if they play like that in Boston they'll get thmped

oh well that's good. I like kessel i really do, but we all know he's been pretty one dimensional so if he actually tries to do some of the lets say more physically demanding things then great.

The way the GIF cuts-off what is going on at Seguin's right side makes it very misleading. Seguin is not even trying to check Kessel. Seguin is just leaning left do to his momentum but has his eye on making a play with the puck.

Here, check out the play with the full view during the first 10 seconds of this video.

So, as you can see, Shadowfax's memory and analysis of the play is on the money. Kessel was the aggressor, and it was a solid defensive play.

Have an opinion for all to follow up on esp. to guys who really know the game (here's looking at you SF). I think Reimer is a very average goalie. He has a wide 5 hole and his glove side is very average.

Discuss.

Personally I think Leafs would be a lock for the playoffs with a competent goaltender.

His glove side is way below average and he knows it. It's a big reason why he is so crappy at the shootout... because he tries to overcompensate for it and overthinks it (he thinks players will shoot there all the time). and players still shoot there and score and when the shooter does something else, Reimer is screwed because all he thinks is glove glove glove that he can't recover in time.

that's my take at least... let me know how i did shadowfax.

The good side to Reimer is his positioning during the game i have noticed is very good. He is usually in the right place at the right time and for this reason tends to do well in in game situations. I caught half the game and yesterday HE earned them that point from what i saw. He had a great game.

I've said similar myself already. No goalie we've ever had for the last like... 5-6 years has been good enough. We just keep deciding to stick with it though and failing year after year.
