Oh no they didn't!

"Addressing the media for the second time tonight, NHLPA executive director Don Fehr said the NHL left a voicemail saying the offer was not acceptable.

In response to the NHL's rejection Fehr said, "This looks like it's not going to be resolved in the immediate future."

Fehr went on to say that he doesn't know when the two sides will meet again.

Addressing the media following Fehr, Bettman said the sense of optimism "almost inexplixably" disappeared Wednesday afternoon after such a good day Tuesday.

Bettman said the owners pushed hard on a new deal Wednesday night, but said the union's response was "shockingly silent" and confirmed the elements the league added to the table this week are now off the table.

Bill Daly also addressed the media following Bettman and said five-year player contract limits were hugely important to NHL, as is a 10-year CBA term"

so true.

I don't give the smallest fuck about this whole thing myself. actually i kind of do in the sense that i just can't be bothered to think about it let alone listen to someone analyzing it. Just hearing about it annoys me. Fuck off and sort this out so i can watch the leafs otherwise fuck off into oblivion so i can focus on things that matter.

today i was listening to the FAN's hockey show for about 10 minutes while in the car. My god what a waste of air that thing is. They were talking about the lockout while really not saying anything important, but mostly just chumming it up with eachother with their lame ass inside jokes that mean nothing to no one. It's like listening a douchebag circle of friends hamming it up with eachother about nothing in particular. GRreat show you got the FAN 590.

i hang out with a lot of hockey people at different rinks right across southern Ontario (Coaches, Trainers, OHL scouts, Tier Two managers/owners etc etc) and i can tell you there was a real buzz regarding the strike when the players first walked
now ?...nothing
noone cares anymore
i'm at the point that if i hear or see it anywhere, i simply change the radio/ tv station...i've taken my interests elsewhere

I don't care either and haven't followed it much at all, but Fehr looks really formidable. He looked like he got backed into a corner where he had to accept these player-owner face-to-face talks that Bettman hoped to use to show tat he wasn't the problem. Then Fehr comes out and notes the positive progress which completely undercut Bettman's motives and made him look like the guy that had to shit all over the thing. Gary might be in some trouble here.

was up at the Marlies Tournament in Etobicoke all last week and had a chance to see some of the top prospects for this year's OHL draft
none impressed me more than Mitchell Marner...OMG this kid can play !!
his team (Don Mills Flyers) played Kingston (#2 in our league) before one of our games and he literally skated circles around the Jr Frontenacs...he seemed to have two extra gears when needed...puck handling skills were off the scale for a 15 yr old...and his ice awareness was incredible
he's a little small (i'd guess he's around 150 lbs) but mark my words...this kid will go top 3 in this year's OHL draft

remember this name...Mitchell Marner

Will be forever! Tey have Hockey factories. They take all the hopefuls at like 10-12 and move them to Hockey factory camps...started about a decade ago or more...you will see from here on out the US will have stolen this sport form a smaller country, just like they will all sports.

NHL is back...

Quote:
After 113 days of the lockout that included a marathon 16-hour negotiation session on Saturday, a*tentative deal on a new 10-year collective bargaining agreement has been reached between the National Hockey League and NHL Players' Association.

"Don Fehr and I are here to tell you that we have reached an agreement on the framework of a new collective bargaining agreement, the details of which need to be put to paper,"*NHL commissioner Gary Bettman*confirmed to*reporters early Sunday morning. "We have to dot a lot of I's and cross a lot of T's. There is still a lot of work to be done, but the basic framework has been agreed upon."

The next stage is documentation and ratification of the deal with the start date and number of games in the 2012-13 season still to be announced depending on how long the final process takes.

"Hopefully within a very few days the fans can get back to watching people who are skating, not the two of us," said NHLPA executive director Donald Fehr.
