I lost a lot of respect for Nash through all of this BS. Now because of his non-stop rambling about wanting to be traded and blah blah blah, he forced his team to get a garbage deal for him and screw themselves over.

I feel bad for Columbus, they got totally fucked. None of that except maybe the first rounder is really gonna help them all that much. I can see that team moving soon as they won't be competitive for a longggg time now.

no trade clauses should be banned from the league

Total respect for Nash? Oh sorry I missed Nash signing his contract with the Jackets for millions on TV. I heard he was tied to leathal injection and they were forcing him to ink pen on paper.

Oh please

Did I say total respect? Does it matter when where or how he signed his contract? What the fuck does his contract even have to do with it...

At least stick to something to do with whats going on if your gonna waste your time to quote me and ramble.

I think he got your post backwards. Only thing that really makes sense.

I can understand his frustration with the franchise, never able to put any talent around him to play with. But you have to know that's a risk when you sign a long term deal. Their management has been absolutely brutal and I can certainly see why he'd snap after this long.

Nash pretty much put Columbus up agaisnt the wall when they were trying to trade him. The club was nice enough to tell him they were going to rebuild as the current process is not working. Nash just turned around and gave the club a very small amount of teams for him to be traded to. He basically killed the clubs rebuilding plans after they were nice enough to ask him if he wants out. I personally think the guy deserves an ounce of praise.

Also, this trade has EVERYTHING to do with his contract. If the NHL didn't allow No trade clauses this traded wouldn't have happened. Same thing happened to the Leafs when JFJ went wild on them and the same thing is happening with the Jackets. No Trade Clauses destroys clubs and Nash made the Jackets the next victim with is "contract"

edit . yes i got your post backwards

Don't you think the team deserves any blame for giving him a no trade? It seems like you're putting all the blame for that onto Nash.

that's it?!

So are we to believe that the only team Nash was willing to waive his no trade clause for was the Rangers?

Pretty sure the Maple Leafs could have and would have put forward a better offer.

It wouldn't have mattered, he didn't want to play in Toronto.

ya that was the question i asked in my post. Is it understood that NY was the only (or one of a very few) trade partners?

The Columbus Dispatch reported a while ago that there were 6 teams Nash said he would accept a trade to. They were:

NYR
Boston
Pitt
Philly
San Jose
Detroit

thanks. i guess of those let's say 3 of the teams just didn't want him. Maybe they didn't want his contract or didn't need to fill the position. so i guess columbus could have been dealing in very tight quarters. moral of the story: no trade clauses are poison, but it's the GMs that dish them out.

don't quote me on this, but i'm pretty sure it was 6 teams on Nash's list...none of them Canadian
Detroit, Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and San Jose

rumour has it that Detroit made a "hell of an offer" but the Jackets turned it down because they didn't want Nash going to a division rival

if that's true, then it's pretty stupid. Divisions don't even mean that much anymore.

True the only players that deserve no trades are guys like Ovechkin and Crosby. The rest have no business getting them.
