Pretty sure controversy is already there and if i was a betting man, i'd say Vancouver management would love to get out from that massive Luongo contract. I dunno, maybe some of our Vancouver fans might want to chime in, but i reckoned there's been a goalie controversy there all year long.

ah yes something that i have thought about for some time now. Only problem is it's another albatross contract (so it's right up Burke's alley haha). The only way i wouldn't have a problem with acquiring him is if we would send over some overpaid dead weight like Komisarek.

Jebus, i hope not...never been a fan and if BB takes on that ridiculous contract then he should be fired...12 years at $64M i believe ?? (not sure about that number...feel free to correct me if i'm wrong)

oh and btw...only saw the 1st period last night but Schneider looked pretty good...can't blame him for a 1/0 loss

I already knew neither of them would make it to a cup final.

The Pens are a group of whiners and Philly is just demolishing them in both the goal department, and the physical... Not to mention their goaltending has been HORRID.

The Canucks are a bunch of gutless divers, they have no real offensive weapons outside of the first line which is missing one of the star players, this team was built for one line to score, if it isn't they have no real chance. Doesn't help Quick has been ruining their night every night...

Either way, I'll be much happier when they get knocked out.

The entire season has seen about half the Canucks fans clamoring for Schneider to be in net. Canucks fans (management obviously publicly backs Luongo, who knows how they really feel) would love to get rid of Luongo, but Schneider's value is theoretically higher. Luongo's contract is an albatross in term's of length, but your cap hit is only 4.something a year, which is actually quite decent for a starting goalie. He would immediately become the best Leafs goalie since...CuJo in his prime?

I enjoy when guys take shots at Sid. Rarely say much when he's carrying some serious weight on the National team, but fun to hate when he isn't on your team in the NHL.

Kid is hands down the best in the world, he bitches, sure, he also takes 3 times the shit other players do in the NHL. Long gone are the Semenko days my friend. He was an 18 year old kid playing against 30 year old men who were much bigger, stronger and very motivated to make his life hell. All he did was go out, Win a Gold medal in the Olympics and get a Stanley cup.

Against the Flyers, he is out of shape and recovering from a pretty harsh concussion. He's out there taking on guys like Hartnall and trying anything he can to get his team going.

It's cool that people can like or not like players... thats your call, but anything but respect for what this kids is able to do, and has done before the age of 25 is just wrong.

I dunno dude. People play Crosby physical, but it's a physical game. He's a very skilled player, but i lose respect for him when i see him sucker punch players then are being held up by his teammates in a scrum. But anyways, the penguins in general are known to be a weasely team and they didn't get that reputation based on nothing.

so.... Raffi Torres' hit on Hossa?

it's clear he left his feet. and the hit was very late. Puck was long gone. Given his sketchy past, i'd sit him for the rest of the playoffs.

thoughts?

Holy cow this first round has been particularilly brutal. things are out of control.

i didn't think torres was particularly late with that hit.... but you can't target a player's head any more... which he clearly did.

Definitely a head shot and for a guy that has a long list of priors, I bet they throw the book at him.

Raffi is in for it, for sure. hit wasn't catastrophic, but it was borderline enough that with his past...he's screwed.

As for Crosby.... Cheap shots???? Meh, that crap happen son every scrum in the NHL, people just aren't used to seeing him participate. He more than NON-weaseled it up on many occasions in that game alone. Like I said, and I stand by this, Crosby takes way more shit than the average player of his caliber, and he fights back. He has a whiney looking face, I agree, but the kid gives and take sand fights through....and oh yeah, he also wins.

By the time the league decides to seriously get rid of head shots, they'll already have lost some good players.

They need to take measures to take it out of the game completely.

1st offence - 20 game suspension
2nd offence - Season long suspension (82 games)
3rd offence - Banned from the NHL

That'll take it out completely. Most of the better/best players in the league don't go for those kind of hits anyways. Anyone who does it once will think twice before ever doing it again. If players are worried about changing the way they've been taught to play, too fucking bad. The league should rather want to ban 10 players for head hunting then losing a good player because of concussion.

They gotta do something now to make sure this shit is out of the game in the future. The sad thing is it might take a Crosby or similar star player being knocked out for good until they do something about it.
