schneider is a rfa this year. i can't remember where i read it, or if i even remember reading it correctly, but i heard the going price for what his contract would cost is like a 1st and a 2nd/3rd. something like that.

Would Luke Schenn and the 5th pick for the 1st be enough?

That depends on how much Tambelini has seen Luke Schenn. It would be pretty sweet for us DK. I would think every Leaf fan would pull that trigger in an instant.

Personally i have no idea what is good/fair trade bait. If it's our Dmen in question i would offer anyone + the pick (excluding Gardiner).

well i wouldn't say that. Obviously he is our most intriguing guy, but we actually have a couple decent young defenders. Maybe include some other players in the deal (on bothsides potentially). I could totally see the teams working something out.

Emphatically, NO!

That's a sure thing in exchange for a 6th d-man and whatever is behind door #5.

Or even worse, if the 5th is a bust, you will never live it down.

And let's not forget what the Philly trade for Lindros got:

Peter Forsberg, Ron Hextall, Chris Simon, Mike Ricci, Kerry Huffman, Steve Duchesne, a 1st round selection in 1993, a 1st round selection in 1994, and $15,000,000 cash.

And the Rangers before that offered:

Doug Weight, Tony Amonte, Alexei Kovalev, John Vanbiesbrouck, three first round draft picks (1993, 1994 & 1995) and $12 million.

It was pretty nice seeing the Senators get owned in Manhattan. I didn't watch the whole thing (missed ottawa's 2 goals), but based on what i saw, they stand no chance in this series.

i don't see anything like that in return since lindros was such a huge prospect compared to yakupov, but i'd certainly hope for more than what DK is offering. i don't see moving back to the 5th giving us the players that we need and tambo is a scaredy cat when it comes to making deals.

schenn + another D (i.e. franson, Gunnarson, Aulie) + 5th pick

Or any of the above defenceman + Kulemin (or someone like that) + 5th pick

That should really get some strong consideration if you ask me. Seems very reasonable.

i don't think any of them are really any better than who we already have in our backend. like i mentioned earlier, we have a good core of young d-men developing in the minors, so someone like schenn and franson aren't really that attractive as they would be to a team with an aging d-core.

I'm just watching (for the first time all year) the NBC coverage and I find that Mike Millbury is quite annoying.

he's ridiculous. I find he's got a lot in common with Don Cherry, except that i agree with what Cherry says more (when it comes to the game). and this coming from someone who doesn't like grapes at all.

Milbury is a fucking joke...how he remains associated with the NHL (in any form of fashion ) is beyond me

CRAZY game between the Flyers and Penguins. Can't say i feel bad about Pitsburgh being on the losing end. They have always striken me as being a weasely team.

Loving the Pens getting destroyed... Makes me so happy!

Also if Schneider starts playing well and wins them some games... there could be some controversy starting... I don't want it to happen because I'd like to get him somehow!!
