truly baffling
its the recycling of fans. lower bowl fans are like 50 % freebees, 30% looking to get a meal (and the food is prettty average in the restaurants), and the rest suits. It is what is ... not real leaf fans

so sad

They were showing a Gretzky documentary on TSN earlier today that talked about how him being traded from Edmonton to LA helped out the NHL grow in so many ways.

Guess Edmonton's still getting paid for that

How can one team win the lottery that many times in less than a decade?

Oilers really need defensemen, they really have no need for Yakupov.

You choose him and trade him for a talented D-man. I don't think Gardiner and the Leafs first would do it.

EDit: Changed my mind. They'd be crazy. Find a better defence some other way. What a team they will have!

yee, 3 times in a row is just crazy. That team will be stacked regardless if they keep or trade the pick.

rumors floating around about the leafs 5th pick for nash lol

there isn't a team in the league that wouldn't have a need for nail.

we have a lot of good d-men that'll be coming up through the system in the next couple of years.

also, if whitney returns in form, we'll have a solid top 4 with, him smid, petry and schultz. if we need to improve our d further, we have players like gagner, hemsky and mps that would each net us a top 4 pairing.

we're good and we'll be the envy of the league in a short period of time!!!

oilers. crazy.

Well i do pull for them as far as the west is concerned, so i'm pleased enough. They really have to take Yakupov.

As for Toronto, i'd hope they can stick with the pick and not do something rash like trading for Nash. A. that would take more than the 5th. B. from what i've gathered there will be an elite player available at 5, C. Thanks to burke this team is so badly cap managed that a guy like Nash and his contract would make it near impossible to bring anyone else in.

With the Oilers winning, I think the draft just chhanged to:

Yak - Edm
Grigo - Columbus
Galchenyuk -Montreal
Murray - NYI
Forsberg - Leafs

If Columbus had won, I think the Oilers would have taken Murray 2nd.

Oilers have only one problem left in the world. Paying them all when they mature or deciding who goes. Just don't do something silly like Ottawa did keeping Redden and letting Chara go.

although.... it does make sense for Edmonton to trade said pick for a player or two (D-man) and a lower pick. Maybe i dunno... a 5th pick?

Seems like a situation where Burke will push hard to trade for the #1...

i could only see them doing it if it only guaranteed either murray or grigorenko. getting a second line centre or a niedermayer like d-men would be a far more pressing need than a winger that isn't 6'4 230+.

in all honesty, i would hoping we'd get the second pick, but nail is pretty freakin awesome and hard to pass up.

maybe
but after watching BB's press conference the other day it sounds like he'll push hard for a #1 starter next season...i'm sure there are a few names he's eyeing right now....Schneider just happens to be my personal choice...will Vancouver deal him ?...probably not

Leafs can't lose even if they keep the 5th...will probably end up with either Forsberg or Murray...would love to see them pick up Grigorenko (6'3", 200 lb center) but he'll more than likely be gone
