Calling him a third liner on a decent team is ridiculous. He's a second line talent and can play as a first line guy, if Toronto wasn't so weak in key positions he'd be up taking Bozaks place right now, they need him on the second line.

He's a good signing, and like it or not, offseason costs would have been way higher, for him, or whoever else.
+1 finally we agree

also: leafs include a modified no-trade clause. He can choose 10 teams each year.

O.K. So, 22 year old defenceman Erik Karlsson - Defence!......is now tied with Lupul in 6th place in NHL points.

What a talent. And 14 teams passed him over in the 2008 draft.

Even though it was a lost it was a hard fought lost which I can deal; Man 1 win away for the leafs to get shutout by the bruins this season T_T that's going to be brutal to watch the next Boston game T_T

Yeah, he's having a great year.

Some fans must have realized he was going to improve offensively because he was fairly high in the Yahoo autodraft. One of the guys in the money pool I'm in got temporarily kicked out of the draft due to a bad internet connection, so several of his picks were autodrafted, including Karlsson. Funny thing is, he was initially REALLY angry with the picks he got. I easily could have traded for Karlsson.

carter ashton recalled from the marlies

with lupul out I would've given kadri the spot on the 1st line and see wat he can do.

Worst case scenario: kadri struggles but the leafs actually do well but finish just outside the playoffs (9th-10th place)

Best case scenario: leafs struggle but kadri does decent and we land a top 5 pick

I guess they can still struggle with ashton though lol

saw most of the game last night...Leafs are horrible in their defensive zone coverage...nice to see that Carlyle at least acknowledges this problem and understands the club has a LONG way to go before getting better
the problem won't go way overnight but i have faith that Carlyle/Farrish will get it right...i even noticed a 1/2/2 a few times last night

i find it amusing that the announcers are talking about the defensive deficiencies now as well...guess it's ok now that Wilson is no longer with the club

Boston is just a better, wiser and more experienced hockey club right now...they never panic when they're down...they just regroup and push back twice as hard
there's numerous reasons why they are the Stanley Cup champs

lol just saying if you combine the 2 trades between boston/toronto it's pretty even some might say its in favour of the leafs (No I'm not crazy lol)

To Boston :
Tomas Kaberle
Jared Knight
Tyler Segiun
Dougie Hamilton

To Toronto:
John-Michael Liles
Tyler Biggs
Phil Kessel
Joe Colborne

Not even close.

Kaberle was a rental and he served his purpose and helped Boston win a Cup (sort of). Seguin is already an All-Star and Hamilton is tearing up the O and they are going to be cornerstones of the Bruins franchise for years to come. Kessel is a pussy and Liles, Biggs and Colborne aren't exactly impact players.

While we're at it how about Rask for Raycroft?
