Okay, we agree on that.

look at the stats from last season and this season and you'll see what I'm talking about. I'm just saying it would fuck us over in the future if we give up the up and comers for nash.
Two different situations though. Nash plays for an absolute shit team. I think his stats would jump up once he's got something to play for again.

Also, Nash is still only 27. And unlike basketball, star players more frequently continue to achieve well passed 30. You'd be getting an elite player for several years.

Say we landed him, we would have one amazing line and a 2nd slightly above average line, with no depth whatsoever, it's the kessel situation all over again, why don't we stay patient and see what the kids can do, we're still in a rebuild until the ahl-ers develop so why get away from that when they're pretty close to making the jump.
I don't know enough about how many guys are being/would be offered for Nash. If it's a couple of picks and just one prospect, I wouldn't be so scared about losing depth, if I were you.

Hey, I'm looking at this from a Jets fan perspective. As a Jets fan, I don't want you to get Nash. I think it helps you.

I also think it's different than the Kessel situation, if you trade picks. Here's why:

In the Kessel trade, there was a good chance at least one of your picks would be a very high first rounder. And indeed that's what happened, and Boston got Seguin, who is super dope. Seguin's a fantastic two-way player. Kessel was not as proven a player as Nash, so giving up multiple first rounders, one of which was going to be a lotto, was risky.

Right now, in my opinion, you make the playoffs by adding Nash. You don't lose games 2-1 to San Jose anymore. The picks you give up won't be as valuable.

I didn't mean trading picks, meant the young players on the marlies. It's too risky imo you're going all in for 1 guy who's a star no doubt, but you have to start over and fill the rest of the team out if you land him, if you wait however you have more well rounded team top to bottom, and a team with more chemistry. Worst case scenario they miss the playoffs this year get a pick, bring up some marlies next season (kadri, colbourne etc.) develop that draft pick and you have a pretty nasty young team going forward. It all depends on who columbus wants obviously, I'm assuming it'll be 3 nhl players a 1st and a prospect which I read on some hockey boards, I think thats too much to give up but thats just me.

Yeah, I hadn't heard 3 players. I figured a couple of prospects + 2 picks.

Anyway, I'm a Jets fan, and I like my teams chances better if you don't have Nash. So you guys go ahead and pass on him.

NAsh has been producing his whole career on the worst team around, in the middle of no place.

One of the best players in the world.

The tricky part is Gardiner.....EVERYONE else is fair if you ask me....

Fack. The Jets just lost to the Blues in a shootout. At least we got a point while playing our backup goalie (Mason).

You should see the replay on Andrew Ladd's shootout attempt. He shot the puck while in tight on Halak, the puck hit Halak up high and rolled down his back. It was going in when Halak decided to sweep his back leg. Halak's leg knocked it out as it got to the goal line.

Leafs owe Halak a debt of gratitude.

It will be intersting to see how Reimer does tonight. The past couple of days I've been hearing/reading reports that they are looking at Nabokov. His overall stats are not that impressive, but Nabokov has been playing quite well over the past few weeks. If he got hot, he's capable of taking you past the first round. He's the type of goalie that could help steal a series, assuming the Kessel/Lupol line does its job.

Rumours have it Nabokov's agent is negotiating a contract extention. If thats the case I doubt he would get traded

30 secs in and it's 1/0
Reimer completely misplays a simple V/H movement (split butterfly) on the post

Edit...2/0....5 hole....AGAIN !

I don't think it would be smart to trade the captain and leader of the team, he's the most consistent shutdown player we have too which is pretty sad but imagine if he's gone and w ehave this weak ass goaltending, won't be good.

yes and thats the sad thing lol, I just think the team would fall apart, who would be next in line to lead the team? Liles? I really don't see another vocal leader.

The "leader" should be behind the bench...someone like a Tortorella

I hope Burke is calling St.Louis about either of Halak or Elliot.

honest question. I wonder if Nazem Kadri is secretly smiling to himself right now? While he is a member of the maple leafs, he of all people must be pissed at how management has used him this season.

a little happy the leafs lost today. The team obviously isn't good enough for a playoff spot, make a couple moves Monday or tank.

I just don't wanna see some Perreault/Stempniak/Giguere pickups Monday, go big or gtfo
