Everyone probably knows by now, but it's pretty cool news.

TOR VS DET in next years Winter Classic, should be an amazing atmosphere. I hope HBO does their usual series for these kinda games, that would be sick.

Quote:
The opportunity to play the Winter Classic game at Michigan Stadium and go for a Guinness World Record crowd proved to be a successful pairing.

The current record occurred at the Big House on Dec. 11, 2010 when a crowd of 104,173 showed up to see Michigan beat Michigan State, 5-0, in a game known as the "Big Chill."

The record for a NHL game was set in the inaugural Winter Classic when 71,217 fans filled Ralph Wilson Stadium for the 2008 Amp Energy NHL Winter Classic, in which Pittsburgh defeated the host Sabres in the shootout. Boston's Fenway Park (2010), Pittsburgh's Heinz Field (2011) and Philadelphia's Citizens Bank Park, this past January, have been the other hosts of Winter Classic games.

None of those hosts, however, have come close to the capacity provided by the Big House.

The largest crowd in the history of Michigan Stadium, which was built in 1927 and most recently renovated in 2010, was recorded this past September when 114,800 showed up for a football game between the Wolverines and Notre Dame. It was the first night game in the history of the stadium.

It's anticipated even more people could show up for the matchup between the Leafs and Wings, two fierce Original Six rivals separated by a drive of less than five hours.

Game would be awesome, the fans would be awesome, the atmosphere would be intense, and like you said, the series they do would be epic I think.

damn this is gonna be a crazy game leafs actually scored on the pp, when was the last time the leafs beat the flyers in philly? The last I remember is when gary roberts came out the box and scored on a breakaway with a backhand shot which was 2003 I think.

haha I have the same abilities but in tonights game they had a chance to win after tying it at 2's.In games from the past they were always dominated in philly so I thought they could've beat em tonight but oh well maybe next year lol.

This will be the first and only time I have ever wished I were a Leaf fan.

Jan. 1, 2013, Michigan.

If you are going, might want to book a hotel right now. That's gonna be a huge weekend. Canadians are going to take over that city more than they did when the world juniors played in Buffalo.

man two teams that have toronto's number are phily and boston. I would have been shocked if the Leafs managed a win yesterday. I'd give them a fighting chance at the ACC, but in Philadephia? forget it.

And in other news Scott Gomez scores. Honestly i thought the ridicule and mockery was too much. he deserved better.

Superstar money and not one goal for a year? That's guaranteed. Players get pounded for much less.

true, but injury played a big part of it. I don't feel too bad for the guy, but still you know he was down in the dumps. Gomez is a good guy and i don't like it when people kick someone when they're down. You being a hab fan, i'm a bit surprised you're not more sympathetic.
