I know.... it's frustrating because from what I saw, thats going to be a drain in energy. Connelly has looked bad.

Ah well.

A guy on the Leafs that doesn't play hard, smart or any defence...

Are you guys talking about Kessel?

actually saw some aggressive play from him in the Ott win...we'll see how long that lasts though
i'll be happy if he scores 40 (and i don't think that's too far fetched)

Exactly Benzo... that's what i was alluding to.

I was saying this last year, but i always thought Kessel is an underrated player. People crap on him because of that trade, but the fact remains that he is a good player. He's dangerous with the puck and a threat to do something significant when he's on the ice. I know we're not used to him being a selke candidate, but whatever... it's cool to see him hustle out there now. Obviously i hope it continues and i know maturity has been a problem with him and will probably pop up again. Still doesn't change my opinion on kessel being a dangerous and good player.

his game as a whole seems to go into the crapper when he goes thru scoring slumps
let's hope that maturity you referred to can help minimize the affects when he hits a (scoring) wall this year

he's a special talent when he wants to be

If he played his ass off every night like he can, he'd be worth what we gave up really (you cant get all mad cuz we would of had a top 2 pick, its not like you can predict the future) He has potential to score 50.

Guys, Kessel is only 23.

He's growing up. A lot. Rumours are that he is a 180 deg. turn this year on and off the ice. More confident socially, having guys over to he and his gals house for catered food and NFL games... playing pranks in the room. All in all word is that Phil is starting to relax. I think that comes with age and maturity, and for some, it takes a little while for that to surface when it isn't part of a players mentality when they are young.

If he continues this way, he can't help but really help the team in a big way. On and off the ice.

man what's with the schedule makers this year? Did they hire some newbies? Some teams have played 4 games. Winnipeg's only had 1 game so far. And leafs spend a whole week without any games and then will have something crazy like 6 games in 8 days.

Happens all over the league every year. The schedule makers are just stupid that's all.

grapes apologized.

Quote:
The latest twist in the Don Cherry controversy saw him do something he rarely, if ever, has done before – apologize and admit he was wrong.

Cherry apologized to three former NHL enforcers, Chris Nilan, Stu Grimson and Jim Thomson, for using inflammatory terms in criticizing their beliefs that fighting should be banned by the NHL. He said they were hypocrites for not only calling for a ban on something they all once made their living with but also for linking the job of an NHL fighter to depression and substance abuse.

“I was 100-per-cent wrong,” Cherry said on his Coach’s Corner segment Saturday night on the CBC’s Hockey Night In Canada. “When you are wrong, you have to admit it.”

If you thought Ron Wilson was smug, he's going to be insufferable now.....at least until teams start playing them like they're not the same 'ol Leafs.

So far Rheimer has been good, but also clearly lucky. Not knowing where the puck is hasn't cost him games.
But this team has a lot of guts.

Reimer's depth in his white and grey zones are a concern imho (depth on 2nd goal last night is an example)...and he's looked downright confused on a number of occasions regarding his set-up point

You mean, in just one week from now Toronto will be 10-0??

Awesome.

ps. Reimer is fine. I am reading typical leafs nation chatter here, and from a couple guys I wouldnt expect to read it from....

don't focus too much on Reimers little mistakes, it's early, focus on how well he does so many other things... he reminds me a lot of Balfour.
