I know fancy is a Habs fan, but am I the only other Habs fan out there that has been severely disappointed so far?

And the hawks-wings game will be an awesome event. finally the NHL is doing something right for a change? My dream is to have a shorter season and have the entire championship on an outdoor stage.

I expected the Habs to do more. I guess they're gonna rely on youth to get it done... but with the loss of Streit and no real backup to Price, they're gonna have to hope that Sundin lands with them. The addition of Tanguay was a decent one, but who knows how he's gonna perform? He's going to have a ton of pressure on him, especially being French Canadian.

Speaking of outdoor games, I'd love to see a Habs-Leafs game at SkyDome.

Well they would HAVE to do that eventually. Its the greatest rivalry in the history of the game. Hopefully they give it a thought to do it next year.

Oh and BTW apparently the Hawks-Wings game was supposed to be kept a secret or something. Its not 100% official yet. But its like what happened when Kob was named MVP. They made it official like what, 2 weeks later or something? Same thing thats going on here.

Nice, the Sens just signed Jason Smith to a 2 year deal. Nice pick-up by Murray and it will definitely help our defense. Not to mention some more toughness and leadership.

You are not.

The Tanguay move was decent, in my opinion, but considering Montreal was in the running for Sundin and Hossa I am definately less than enthused with the results. I suppose Sundin is still a possibility, but it's looking less and less likely it seems.

But LyRrAd, Jaro Halak is a more than capable backup for Price. Between the pipes is the one area Montreal is set for a long, long time.

Stajan stays in Toronto for 2 more years for $3.5 million. This was pretty much expected but I love this move. The money is perfect, the right amount of years, and I've always liked Stajan. This is our future captain and possible even our current Assistant Captain.

The deal is reportedly worth $2 million, plus bonus clauses.

Late last month, the Senators placed Emery on unconditional waivers for the purpose of buying out the remainder of the three-year, $9.5-million contract he signed last off-season, for which Emery was owed $6.725 million. No other NHL team claimed Emery, allowing the Senators to pay Emery $2.275 million - the required one-third of what they owed him - and wash their hands of the troublesome goalie.

Hilarious. Stanley Cup starter to Russia in one year.

Don't do drugs, kids. Seriously.

Good on him. However, he'll have to work on his attitude issues. He's had 'em ever since his junior days in the Sault. Perhaps now he can go to the rink on a snowmobile more often.

The signing of Denis could prove to be a good one. It wasn't too long ago that he was a #1 in Columbus. It's a low risk, high reward kind of thing. If he could ever find his mojo again, this could be what the doctor ordered. I don't think Price was ready for the prime-time just yet. They had a lot of tools last season, just just too much youth and not enough vets. The acquisitions of Tanguay and Laroque will help.

Oh and news yesterday that wasn't said here:

He only played 39 games last season but when this guy's healthy, he can easily average 20 goals/season. Despite this season this guy never gets injured. He hasn't missed a game from October 2000 to April 2007. I think this was a good pick-up by Anaheim. At least now this team's got a decent 2nd line center.

If by "attitude issues" you mean the issue of his casual attitude towards repeated cocaine use, then yes...that needs to be addressed.

Good news here. Apparently the Leafs offered Frogen a standard contract, about $2M or something, but the League rejected it and said Leafs had to give him an ELC of about $0.5M or something like that. Fletcher also says he'll play in their top 6 this season which is also good news.

I don't know about that. Those stories are exaggerated.

I know people who work at Ottawa bars and have watched him (and other Sens) do it with their own eyes.

I have also heard from credible sources that blow is (or was) very popular amongst the Senators.

Were those stories exaggerated? I don't know.

But that plus the fact that it's been all over the internet for the past year, on Senators fan forums no less, makes it pretty easy to believe.

I can tell you that I'm 100% sure that cocaine is the drug of choice in the NHL, and that pleeenty of players indulge in it, similar to marijuana use in the NBA.

Emery loves to party, and plays for a team that allegedly has had issues with blow in a league that certainly has some issues with blow.

So it's not laid out right in front of me...but I'm fairly confident in putting 2 and 2 together to make 4 here.

I know Sudafed was huge with NHL players. I know a few guys that played in the AHL and ECHL that would pop Sudafed on the regular before games. Blow however, I'm a bit more skeptical to believe. I'm not discounting it totally, but it's a bit harder to believe.

The Czech club announced the move June 26 but the deal was signed Thursday. After the season, Straka had to think over offers from several NHL and Russian clubs.

Straka played for Plzen before moving to the NHL, and during the 2004-05 lockout season. Straka was on the Czech team that won the gold medal at the 1998 Nagano Olympics.

It's not exaggerated at all guys. In fact, I know forsure blow is popular amongst a few of the now ex-Senators. My bro used to be a doorman at local watering hole that some of the Sens frequent too and he walked in on Emery, McGrattan and Comrie partaking in some activity with a white substance in the staff bathroom. My brother watched as Ray did a line. I shit you not and I'm not saying this out of spite because I can't stand Emery. He's apparently a huge cocaine user. Caught my bro off guard and before he could do anything, they walked out and left the bar. Not that my bro could do anything. He's a big tough kid, but he'd get pummeled by McGrattan and Emery.

Sundin to make his decision by August 1st

I'm so excited, he said Toronto is definitely an option so there's still hope of returning.

Montreal offered his $8 million and Vancouver $10 million. It's really between Canucks and Leafs. Honestly, if he goes to Vancouver I wouldn't be too sad and surprised. They clearly have a better chance at the cup, the money is great, and it's still in Canada.

Sorry Habs
